Reporting to the Manager of Database Services and Application, the Database Administrator role is responsible for managing Oracle and SQL server databases, ensuring their availability, performance, security, and reliability. Key responsibilities include database upgrades, patching, backups, recovery, and disaster recovery. The role also supports Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), responsible for the EBS application tier in administration, maintenance, patching, cloning and upgrade. Collaboration with technical teams, participation in change management, and production support are essential aspects of the position.

Key Responsibilities

• •Administer, maintain, monitor and support Oracle databases and SQL server databases, to ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability of business-critical applications.
• •Perform database configuration, upgrades, patching, backup, recovery, cloning, and migration activities for databases.
• •Monitor database performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related issues, bottlenecks, and incidents. Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, and capacity planning.
• •Perform database backup and recovery, configure and design high availability, and disaster recovery solutions using Oracle technologies such as RMAN and Data Guard.
• •Implement and maintain database security controls, including encryption (TDE), auditing, privileged access management, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• •Develop and maintain Linux/PowerShell scripts to automate database administration tasks, monitoring, backup processes, performance reporting, and routine system maintenance.
• •Support and maintain transactional replication and performance tuning activities in SQL server environments.
• •Support Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) application tier, including cloning, patching, and environment maintenance activities, where applicable.
• •Collaborate with application development, and infrastructure teams to design, deploy, and optimize database solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
• •Participate in change management, release management, and production support processes, including after-hours support and incident response when required.
• •Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing status updates, technical guidance, and recommendations on database-related matters.

Qualifications

• •Minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated hands-on Oracle database administration experience in mission-critical enterprise environments a must.
• •3-5 years of hands-on database experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments, including administration, monitoring, backup and recovery, transactional replication and performance optimization.
• •Demonstrated experience with Oracle database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, data guard, performance tuning, encryption and troubleshooting.
• •Experience in administering Oracle database in Oracle Cloud infrastructure (OCI) an asset.
• •Demonstrated experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and scripting for automation and operational support.
• •Experience in Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) database administration, including patching, cloning, and administration
• •Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with application teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.

Skills and Competencies

• •Strong knowledge of database administration principles, including tuning, encryption, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• •Proficient in PowerShell, Shell, or other scripting languages to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency. Hands-on experience working with Linux/Unix is required.
• •Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and implement effective long-term corrective actions.
• •Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• •Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• •Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams while supporting critical production systems and business operations.
• •Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies, industry best practices.

Additional Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft SQL Server/Azure Database certification, or equivalent professional certification is considered an asset.

Security and Reliability Background Check clearance is required.
