The Role
Fisher & Paykel is an iconic New Zealand brand, a global company with a strong local heritage. Our origins inspire a culture of curiosity and passion for developing solutions designed around people. That's what makes us unique.
We're driven by our values of being trusted, sustainably minded, innovative, generous and curious. We take a collaborative approach, and all ideas are heard, evaluated and tested against our leading goal: to be the world's most human-centred appliance brand.
We're looking for a Design Development Manager to build lasting relationships with the architects, designers and specifiers who shape the world's most beautiful homes. You'll hold design-led conversations grounded in brand storytelling and turn trusted relationships into ongoing specification of Fisher & Paykel.
Based in Auckland, you'll work with our Experience Centre team, New Zealand commercial and marketing teams and marketing teams and lobal colleagues to deliver a world-class experience at every touchpoint with architects, interior designers and specifiers. It's a role for someone who is credible in the design community, plans with purpose and loves growing a network.
What you'll do
- Grow and nurture a reliable network of specifiers, designers and architects, building trusted partnerships that lead to specification
- Elevate the design community’s perception of our brand’s luxury positioning, serving as the first window into the world of what our brand and products have to offer. Plan and deliver engagement for your key accounts, in line with our global Design Engagement strategy
- Host and attend designer events and Experience Centre experiences that bring our brand and products to life
- Deliver product training and presentations that connect design, function and brand
- Advise on appliance selection, placement and configuration, and make sure specifiers have accurate product information and assets
- Track progress with monthly scorecards, and report on key accounts to local and global teams
- Work with colleagues across the business to deliver for specifiers
- Keep across industry, competitor and design trends
- Understand the local market needs and partner with our Commercial team to influence the right projects.
The role sits within Global Marketing, with functional alignment to Design Engagement. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, with some travel within Auckland, occasional trips around the regions to connect with the industry, and some evening and weekend events.
About you
- You have a proven track record (typically 5+ years) in the appliance, building or design industry, in design, project management, or sales and marketing. You can show us a trusted network of architects and designers, real examples of influencing what gets specified, and a portfolio of accounts or projects you've planned and delivered.
- You're a confident, warm communicator and storyteller who presents well in small and large settings. You read floor plans and elevations, and speak credibly about design intent and appliance selection, placement and configuration.
- You're self-directed and organised, with strong commercial sense and the ability to plan and deliver across multiple accounts.
- You're skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, and comfortable with social media.
- A tertiary qualification in Design (e.g. Interior, Architectural or Product), Marketing or Business is preferred. Design credentials (e.g. AKBD, CKD) are a bonus
What we offer
A competitive salary, ongoing development and real room to grow, in a global company headquartered in New Zealand. You'll also enjoy generous discounts across Fisher & Paykel and Haier products.
