Your Role: Design Technician – reporting to our Design Manager

What You Bring:

Read, interpret and understand blueprints and the building codes relating to residential, commercial or farm projects.

Ability to examine drawings and blueprints for intent, conformity, and error.

Design individual roof or floor trusses, I-joist, beam and column components, ensuring correct loading has been applied according to customer requirements, blueprints, and engineered specifications.

Produce roof and floor takeoffs, layouts, load development and truss designs using MiTek Sapphire, Wood Works, or similar component sizing software and CAD software programs.

Generate quotes quickly, efficiently and accurately for customers.

The skill to deal with various customers courteously and effectively, having an exceptional customer service attitude to maintain excellent client interaction.

Communicate with engineers, architects, and contractors regarding project details before and during construction.

Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.

Demonstrated skills working in a team environment.

Willing to learn and contribute in whatever way possible.

Proven ability to meet deadlines.

Attend and participate in all Company-sponsored training programs as required.

Qualifications:

Technical diploma or engineering degree - preferred

3+ Experience with MiTek Sapphire.

5+ Work experience in the wood truss and engineered wood products industry.

Knowledge of engineering wood trusses, wood I-joists and structural composite lumber products.

Comprehensive knowledge of the building and construction process related to single-family, multi-family and light commercial wood-framed construction.

Understanding of local building codes and construction practices. Experience in leading, motivating and developing staff members. Able to protect and reinforce a positive corporate culture.
