Developer Advocate

At Wafer, we are building AI systems that automatically optimize inference workloads across silicon. Wafer is well funded and serves trillions of tokens a month for mission-critical workloads at fast-growing AI startups.

Developers reach Wafer through our API and through routers like OpenRouter and Vercel AI Gateway. Every new open model is a race to be the fastest place to run it.

We're looking for a Developer Advocate: an engineer who can write and a marketer who can build. You'll make Wafer the obvious choice for developers who need fast inference, by showing them with real code and real numbers.

What you'll do

Ship launch content for every new model we serve: posts, benchmarks, code samples and demos, often within hours of a release.

Build examples, integrations and tutorials that show developers what fast inference makes possible, such as coding agents, voice agents and real-time apps.

Turn our performance work into content developers trust: benchmarks with clear methodology and deep dives on how we make models fast.

Own our docs and developer experience. Find the rough edges in onboarding and fix them, or get them fixed.

Be Wafer's voice in developer communities: X, Hacker News, Discord, Reddit, meetups and conferences.

Bring what developers tell you back to product and engineering.

What we look for

You are an engineer. You have built real things with LLM APIs and can write production-quality sample code.

You write clearly and quickly. You can show us posts, videos, docs or talks that developers actually read.

You have an audience in AI, infrastructure or developer tools, or a track record of building one.

Technical depth on inference helps: latency, throughput, quantization and why one provider is faster than another.

You are credible with skeptical engineers. You defend a benchmark with data and concede the point when they are right.

You work without a spec and ship continuously.

How we evaluate

We score every candidate on seven values:

Infinitely Resourceful

Exceptionalism

Unreasonable Standards

Company Over Self

High EQ

Learns Quickly

First Principles Thinker

Benefits

Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Daily lunch and dinner, unlimited PTO, and parental leave.

$1K/month housing stipend (post-tax) if you live within walking distance (0.5 miles) from the office.

Relocation allowance and benefits.

Covered Uber/Waymo from/to office.

Visa sponsorship available.

How we work

On-site in San Francisco, five days a week. Small team with massive surface area and ownership. You operate with complete autonomy of how to solve problems.

You will build developer marketing while doing the work yourself. Your success is measured by how many developers try Wafer, and how many of them stay.
