Role Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Culinary Innovation, Burger King, the Director of Culinary Innovation will be instrumental in shaping and advancing our food philosophy, developing distinctive flavor profiles, and collaborating closely with vendors and supply chain partners. This role will drive culinary excellence, ensuring that our products reflect the brand’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. This highly collaborative position works alongside Brand Marketing, Consumer Insights, and external supply chain partners to optimize unit economics and enhance brand affinity through exceptional product offerings.
RBI follows a 5 day, in-office work schedule to support collaboration. Successful candidates will be expected to work onsite 5 days per week out of our Miami, FL office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a multi-level team of chefs, driving innovative culinary strategies and ensuring a high standard of product development.
- Refine and implement the brand’s food philosophy, emphasizing quality, flavor, and consistency to create memorable dining experiences.
- Manage and cultivate relationships with key suppliers, staying ahead of culinary trends and ensuring supplier capabilities meet brand innovation priorities.
- Provide accurate hand-offs of recipes and culinary standards to the Commercialization Team for seamless transition from development to market.
- Partner with the Operations team to establish procedures that support effective in-store execution and streamline operations.
- Oversee and facilitate internal and cross-functional product presentations, including sample requisition and ingredient preparation.
- Manage the organization and inventory of the test kitchen, maintaining food safety and production standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in culinary innovation, preferably in QSR, fast-casual, or food manufacturing in relevant product categories
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong knowledge of product innovation, clean ingredients, regulatory compliance, and food manufacturing SOP’s
- Working knowledge of protein development, sauces, beverages, desserts, baked goods
- Demonstrated ability to think both quantitatively and conceptually, with robust organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Well-established professional networks within the culinary field and experience working with diverse supplier partners.
