Supported by a team of professionals skilled in design, sourcing, production, sales, marketing & distribution of premium quality children’s wear, Haddad distributes globally to 100+ countries and maintains sales and sourcing offices in 22 cities globally, including New York, Paris, Hilversum, Shanghai, Egypt, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Montreal.
Overview:
The Director of Packaging Design will define and oversee the strategy, vision, and execution for an independent business unit or department.
Key Accountabilities:
- Drive execution of packaging design and development across brands, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with brand and business objectives
- Lead the execution of all activities of design development on designated brand(s) and collaborate on others as needed
- Establish and standardize packaging processes, workflows, and best practices to improve efficiency and consistency
- Own and optimize packaging systems and tools (e.g., VSN, PLM) to ensure accurate tracking, visibility, and cross-functional integration
- Drive cross-functional execution and alignment with Design, Sales, Marketing, Product Approval, Sourcing, and licensors
- Oversee supplier performance and production execution, ensuring quality standards, consistency, and timelines are met
- Manage workload planning and resource allocation, ensuring team capacity aligns with business needs and deadlines
- Lead ideation, kickoff meetings, and innovation efforts while driving implementation of new concepts, materials, and efficiencies
- Oversee execution to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, while proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and driving solutions across teams and suppliers
- Coordinate with Creative Services to ensure packaging needs and showroom mockups are accurate and up to date
- Partner with licensors and key stakeholders to ensure packaging aligns with brand standards, timelines, and business requirements
- Utilize market research and retail insights to guide packaging decisions, including size, structure, and functionality
- Lead and develop the packaging design team, providing direction, support, and feedback to ensure high-quality execution
- Ensure packaging programs are delivered on time and within budget, maintaining alignment with seasonal calendars and business goals
- Travel as needed for inspiration, approvals, and production oversight
- Special projects as assigned
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities/Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in the fashion industry (children’s wear knowledge a must)
- Ability to travel as needed
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially in Adobe Illustrator
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills with attention to detail
- Must be a strategic thinker, persuasive and collaborative
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team of designers
