Role Overview
The Director, Pharmacy Solutions serves as the primary pharmacy strategic partner for an assigned portfolio of practices across The US Oncology Network. The Director leads practice-level infusion and oral drug strategy and optimization, translating Network pharmacy priorities into measurable execution by integrating clinical evidence, drug economics, payer and manufacturer dynamics, regulatory requirements, and practice operations. Through trusted relationships with pharmacy, physician, operational, and financial leaders, the Director develops practice-specific strategies that advance clinically appropriate therapy selection, optimize infusion and oral drug utilization and performance, improve patient access, and support safe, consistent, economically sustainable oncology care and long-term practice growth.
The Director owns the pharmacy relationship, strategic account plan, and engagement cadence for assigned practices. The role coordinates enterprise resources to address practice priorities, resolve barriers, and maintain accountability for results while contributing field insight to Network-wide initiatives and governance.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The strongest candidate will be a credible, practice-centered oncology pharmacy leader who combines sound judgment with disciplined execution. They will build trust quickly, navigate competing priorities, communicate clearly with clinical and business leaders, and maintain accountability across a varied portfolio of practices.
Key Responsibilities
Own assigned practice relationships and strategic account plans. Serve as the primary pharmacy partner for assigned practices; establish trusted relationships with pharmacy, physician, operations, and finance leaders; understand each practice’s priorities, risks, and operating environment; maintain actionable account plans; and coordinate a consistent engagement and performance-review cadence.
Lead drug strategy and therapy optimization. Integrate clinical evidence, pathways and P&T guidance, utilization and site-of-care trends, reimbursement, payer requirements, manufacturer dynamics, value-based care considerations, dispensing and administration operations, and practice economics to identify opportunities and guide clinically appropriate, financially sustainable therapy selection and adoption. Develop practice-specific strategies to optimize drug performance, including formulary and preferred-product adoption, payer alignment, patient access, workflow readiness, and response to market changes across the product life cycle.
Drive readiness, adoption, and sustained performance. Translate Network drug priorities into practice-specific implementation plans; assess clinical, operational, financial, dispensing, administration, and access readiness; align stakeholders; surface and remove barriers; support change management; and monitor adoption, utilization, and outcomes through stabilization.
Connect data and insight to action. Analyze clinical, financial, operational, access, dispensing, administration, and utilization trends across therapies; validate assumptions and data limitations; identify variation and performance gaps; develop decision-ready recommendations; and track adoption, access, economic, and patient-care results with practice and enterprise partners.
Coordinate cross-functional execution and represent practice needs. Partner across GPO, operations, finance, research, analytics, technology, payer, manufacturer, and physician-governance teams to align support, resolve issues, and ensure enterprise solutions reflect practice needs and reduce friction.
Contribute expertise to Network initiatives and governance. Lead or participate in priority projects, Pharmacy & Therapeutics committees or subcommittees, and improvement efforts; share field intelligence and scalable practices; and contribute to consistent Network execution.
