Why this role matters - The mission
We are seeking a strategic, commercially and legally strong Director, Supply Chain Strategy to shape how ICEYE secures, de-risks and scales the supply base behind the world's largest multisensor satellite constellation.
You will own ICEYE's global supply chain strategy: how we assess and manage supplier risk, which suppliers we develop as long-term partners, and where we vertically integrate through partnerships, licensing, joint ventures or acquisitions. You will also define and own our supplier portal landscape, the digital backbone of how we collaborate with suppliers. Finally, you will own how ICEYE meets local content requirements, supporting our local entities as they select and onboard in-country suppliers.
This role is for a leader who moves comfortably between the boardroom and the engineering bench: credible with executives, investors and partners, and equally credible with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing and supplier engineers.
Who we are
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.
ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.
ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defense and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.
Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Your day-to-day responsibilities
1. Global supply chain strategy
Define and own ICEYE's global supply chain strategy, aligned with company, program and production roadmaps, and translate it into a multi-year plan with clear priorities, targets and KPIs.
Establish and run a structured supplier risk assessment framework covering financial health, capacity, single and sole sourcing, geopolitical and export control exposure, security and compliance.
Build and maintain a supplier risk heat-map across all critical commodities and suppliers, and use it to drive mitigation plans, dual sourcing and inventory strategies.
Own supplier due diligence for new and strategic suppliers, including ownership and security screening, ESG and compliance checks, in close cooperation with Legal, Security and Quality.
Lead supplier development programs that lift capability, quality and capacity of strategic suppliers, and grow a resilient, sovereign-capable supply base for defense and dual-use customers.
2. Strategic partnerships & ventures
Identify, evaluate and execute vertical integration opportunities where owning or controlling critical technologies, processes or capacity creates strategic advantage.
Support the negotiation of long-term and strategic supply agreements, including pricing, capacity reservation, IP, liability, security and exit terms.
Structure and negotiate license agreements and joint venture agreements with industrial and technology partners.
Act as the M&A lead in the vertical integration domain: build the target pipeline, lead technical and operational due diligence, shape business cases and drive post-merger integration of acquired capabilities into the supply chain.
Work closely with Corporate Development, Finance and Legal, and present recommendations to the executive team and board.
3. Supplier portals
Define and own ICEYE's supplier portal strategy, roadmap and architecture.
Lead the selection, implementation and continuous improvement of supplier portals for onboarding, qualification, forecasting, order collaboration, document exchange and performance scorecards.
Ensure portals integrate with ERP and PLM, and meet ICEYE's information security and export control requirements.
Drive supplier adoption and use portal data to improve visibility, risk monitoring and decision making.
4. Local content & local supply
Own ICEYE's approach to local content, industrial participation and offset requirements in customer programs and sovereign missions.
Assess local content obligations early in bids and contracts, and translate them into sourcing plans with clear targets and tracking.
Support ICEYE's local entities in identifying, assessing, selecting and onboarding local suppliers, applying ICEYE's risk assessment, due diligence and qualification standards.
Develop local suppliers so they can meet ICEYE's technical, quality and security requirements, and integrate them into the global supply base and supplier portals.
Report on local content performance and compliance to program teams, local entity leadership and customers.
5. Leadership & organization development
Build, lead and develop a team of supply chain strategy, strategic sourcing and supplier management professionals, including managers.
Define the operating model, workflows and governance for strategic sourcing and supply continuity across electronics, mechanical, electromechanical and specialty process categories.
Develop hiring profiles, succession plans and long-term talent strategies to scale the organization.
Foster a culture of urgency, technical rigor, proactive risk management and high accountability.
6. Securing serial supply continuity
Partner with the Supply Chain Category Managers, who own category strategies and day-to-day supply continuity for serial production, and ensure the supply chain strategy actively supports their goals.
Identify structural supply risks that category management alone cannot resolve, such as single and sole sources, capacity bottlenecks, obsolescence, technology dependencies and geopolitical exposure.
Propose and execute structural solutions that secure continuous supply: strategic partnerships, long-term supply agreements, licensing, joint ventures, vertical integration and M&A.
Build business cases with Category Management, Finance and Engineering that compare make, buy, partner and acquire options.
Track how these initiatives improve supply security, lead-times and cost at rate.
7. Supporting supplier engagement
Support the Supply Chain Category Managers, who own the relationships with suppliers in their categories, including executive-level engagement with strategic suppliers where needed.
Bring the strategic view into supplier relationships: risk heat-map findings, due diligence results, supplier development needs and partnership or integration opportunities.
Support Category Managers in negotiations that need long-term agreements, capacity commitments or partnership structures.
8. Cross-functional & executive alignment
Act as the senior supply chain voice in executive, engineering, program management and manufacturing forums.
Translate evolving technical and business requirements into executable supply chain strategies across electronics, mechanical and system-level builds.
Communicate risks, mitigation plans and critical dependencies proactively to leadership and program teams.
9. Risk management & development-to-production continuity
Identify and mitigate risks to continuous supply, including component availability, obsolescence, material constraints, export limitations, supplier capacity and financial stability.
Ensure supply risks are visible at program milestones and production readiness
