About the Role
BDO's Valuations team is part of our Deal Advisory practice and provides specialist valuation advice across financial reporting, tax, litigation, transactions and strategic advisory matters.
We are seeking a Director to join our Melbourne team and play a key leadership role in delivering complex valuation engagements across a diverse client base, including ASX-listed companies, private equity funds, private businesses and legal advisers.
Working closely with Partners and senior stakeholders, you will combine technical expertise with commercial acumen to drive business development, manage key client relationships, mentor team members and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Valuations practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution and review of complex valuation engagements, including business valuations, intangible asset valuations, purchase price allocations, impairment testing, financial instrument valuations and independent expert support.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships with senior executives, boards, legal advisers, private equity investors and audit teams.
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard, on time and within budget.
- Provide technical leadership and quality review of valuation reports, financial models and client deliverables.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation, networking, presentations and identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Support the development of the Valuations practice through market initiatives, thought leadership and strategic growth opportunities.
- Mentor, coach and develop managers, senior analysts and analysts, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant valuation standards, accounting requirements and market developments.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive experience in business valuation, financial reporting valuations and transaction-related advisory services.
- Strong technical knowledge of valuation methodologies, accounting standards and valuation frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage senior client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and commercially.
- Proven leadership experience, including coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CFA or equivalent highly regarded.
