Bison Transport is seeking an experienced Recruiter specializing in Class 1/AZ Owner-Operator recruitment to support the continued growth of our Owner-Operator fleet.
This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with a strong understanding of the transportation industry and a proven ability to attract, engage, and onboard high-quality Owner-Operators.
Success in this position requires a combination of recruitment expertise, relationship-building skills, and sales acumen. The successful candidate will effectively communicate Bison's value proposition, build trust with prospective Owner-Operators, and demonstrate why partnering with Bison is a strong business decision.
As a key member of the Driver Recruitment team, you will be responsible for developing a pipeline of qualified Owner-Operators, promoting Bison's opportunities, and guiding candidates through the recruitment and onboarding process.
This position offers a competitive base salary plus commission opportunities.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies focused on attracting qualified Class 1/AZ Owner-Operators.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective Owner-Operators through direct sourcing, networking, referrals, industry contacts, and targeted recruitment initiatives.
- Build relationships with prospective Owner-Operators and demonstrate how Bison can support their long-term success.
- Promote and effectively sell Bison's Owner-Operator opportunities.
- Apply consultative sales techniques to influence onboarding decisions.
- Screen and assess prospective candidates through walk-in traffic, online applications, and incoming phone calls.
- Review applications and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct interviews and assess candidates' qualifications, experience, and overall fit for the opportunities available.
- Maintain accurate candidate records and activity within Workday and other recruitment systems.
- Ensure all safety, qualification, compliance, and onboarding requirements are completed prior to onboarding.
- Coordinate and support the tractor onboarding process to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient completion.
- Partner closely with Operations to understand fleet requirements, market conditions, and growth opportunities.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence, industry trends, and competitor activity to support recruitment strategies.
- Contribute to recruitment process improvements and driver retention initiatives.
- Support Company Driver recruitment and participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Our Ideal Candidate will possess:
- 2+ years of high-volume Class 1/AZ Owner-Operator recruitment experience.
- Proven success sourcing, selling, and onboarding Owner-Operators and Drivers.
- Strong knowledge of Owner-Operator business models, compensation structures, and industry trends
- Strong relationship-building, consultative selling, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Results-driven with a track record of achieving recruitment and onboarding targets.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital recruitment tools.
- Experience sourcing and engaging driver candidates through Indeed, job boards, social media, referrals, and other recruitment channels.
- Experience using Workday is considered an asset.
