Description
The eCommerce User Experience (UX) Manager leads the strategic design, optimization, and continuous improvement of the end-to-end digital customer journey. This position is responsible for creating intuitive, high-converting digital storefront experiences that drive customer engagement, elevate brand perception, and maximize key eCommerce metrics including Conversion Rate (CR), Revenue Per Session (RPS), Average Order Value (AOV), and customer retention for MeatEater Inc.'s portfolio of commerce websites. The role reports directly to the Director of eCommerce and provides strategic feedback and collaboration for continuous site improvements to achieve monthly brand initiatives along with yearly revenue goals.
Core Responsibilities
- UX Strategy & Digital Architecture
- Creation, curation, upkeep and ownership of all e-commerce website content such as Landing Pages, Content Pages, Homepages, Navigations and User Interfaces used to deliver an industry leading, end-to-end shopping experience.
- Direct the information architecture, user flows, navigation structures, and wireframes across web and mobile platforms.
- Ownership and management of website quiz designs, reporting/dashboards, budgets, UI, etc. using Carful.
- Ensure seamless omnichannel experience and mobile-first design responsiveness across all digital touchpoints.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure functional and aesthetic alignment within functional brand guidelines.
- Management of all Shopify Theme Customizer components, layouts, templates, code, etc.
- Responsible for day-to-day management of the site(s) search indexes, dictionaries, and performance.
- Ownership of ADA audits, design, and development work for ADA compliance.
- Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) & Continuous Testing
- Plan, execute, and analyze rigorous A/B and multivariate testing programs to continuously optimize landing pages, product display pages (PDPs), cart flow, and checkout processes.
- Utilize qualitative and quantitative data (heatmaps, user session recordings, click tracking) to identify friction points in the conversion funnel.
- Customer Research & Analytics
- Conduct user research, customer interviews, usability testing, and persona development to uncover core shopper motivations and friction points.
- Oversee site search dictionaries, filtering taxonomy, and product recommendation engines to improve product discoverability.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive benchmarks, and emerging eCommerce UX design patterns.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Execution
- Work closely with Marketing, Merchandising, Product Management, and Brand Managers to support new product launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns.
- Work closely with Marketing Department to optimize traffic efficiency using heatmapping and user analytics tools to drive insightful design and drive core intent KPIs based on traffic type and Marketing intent.
- Help manage sprint planning, ticket creation, and workflow execution using tools such as Jira and Asana.
- Maintain relationships with external UX agencies, tech vendors, and solution partners.
- Deliver Giveaway experiences using Shopify app(s) that align with Marketing directives and initiatives.
- Core Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Primary KPIs: Conversion Rate (CR), Revenue Per Session (RPS), Cart & Checkout Completion Rates, Session Duration / Bounce Rate.
- Secondary KPIs: Average Order Value (AOV), Customer Satisfaction / Net Promoter Score (NPS), Search Conversion Rate.

Requirements
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Marketing, Interactive Media, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience
4+ years of dedicated eCommerce UX/UI design, product optimization, or site management experience in a fast-paced digital environment.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills
- Deep proficiency Shopify and Shopify platform apps.
- High expertise with wireframing and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Axure).
- Strong working knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript framework fundamentals) as applied to web design and UI performance.
- Working knowledge of Klaviyo.
- Hands-on experience with digital web analytics and CRO platforms (GA4, Hotjar, Crazy Egg, VWO, Microsoft Clarity, Optimizely).
- Management of A/B testing and reporting.
- Jira and Asana experience.
- Team oriented work style and a strong work ethic.
- Attention to detail and drive to continually improve, develop, and evolve previous works.
- Exceptional analytical capability with a track record of translating data into actionable UX design solutions.
- Strong cross-functional leadership, project management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Customer-obsessed mindset with acute attention to detail and design aesthetics.
- Background and knowledge within the hunting and greater outdoor community preferred.
