Since establishing a local presence in 1991, Pape-Dawson has become a trusted multidisciplinary partner, providing civil engineering, surveying, planning, and landscape architecture services to public- and private-sector clients throughout Greater Houston. Our team works closely with developers, municipalities, counties, state agencies, special purpose districts, and community partners to deliver practical, thoughtful solutions tailored to the region’s evolving needs.
From master-planned communities, educational campuses, commercial centers, and industrial developments to public infrastructure that improves mobility, safety, and resiliency, our work is both diverse and impactful. Through collaboration across disciplines, team members have the opportunity to help shape well-designed communities and infrastructure that support how people live, work, and move throughout the Houston region.

It involves close coordination with the Land Development Residential, Land Development Commercial, and Facilities teams on the planning, design, analysis, and delivery of engineering projects under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and may provide technical guidance to junior staff. The role applies experience and problem-solving skills to moderately complex assignments while collaborating with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.

- Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) packages.
- Coordinate technical aspects of projects with internal teams, subconsultants, and stakeholders.
- Support meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Assist with permitting documentation and service area–specific quality requirements.
- Perform engineering planning, design, and analysis tasks in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, producing work that requires minimal revision.
- Prepare engineering calculations and technical deliverables such as memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, clearly documenting assumptions and design decisions.
- Evaluate and compare design alternatives, apply sound engineering judgment, and recommend appropriate solutions to support project objectives.
- Coordinate with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders to support project delivery, with guidance as appropriate.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers to support team development and quality outcomes.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance practices to support accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.
- Manage assigned tasks independently, meet deadlines, and demonstrate accountability for assigned portions of a project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional engineering experience performing progressively responsible engineering work.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT/EI) certification, preferred

- Ability to apply established engineering practices and exercise sound judgment on moderately complex assignments.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external agencies.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and work under general supervision.
- Willingness to work primarily in an office environment with periodic field work, site visits, meetings, or agency coordination as required.
