About Us

Epia Neuro is a neural technology company developing intent-driven systems designed to restore function and independence for people living with neurological conditions. Its platform integrates implantable neural interfaces, adaptive algorithms, and assistive devices to translate neural intent into real-world action. The company’s initial focus is stroke-related motor impairment, with expansion in cognitive decline and other neurological disorders, focusing on long-term solutions for the growing aging population.

The Role

We’re looking for an Electrical Systems Engineer II to help build the electronics behind our next-generation implantable and wearable neurotechnology.

This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership. You’ll design electrical subsystems from schematic through bring-up and validation, working across hardware, firmware, mechanical, and systems engineering to turn complex requirements into reliable, production-ready hardware.

You’ll work on challenging problems in low-power electronics, sensing, power management, and communications - with your designs contributing directly to technology intended to restore function and independence for people with neurological conditions.

Location

This role is based out of the San Francisco Bay Area and expected to work onsite from our Alameda headquarters five days a week.

What You'll Do

Design and develop low-power electrical circuits and subsystems for implantable and wearable devices.

Own designs from schematic and component selection through PCB bring-up, debugging, and validation.

Develop analog and digital circuitry involving sensors, ADCs, power management, microcontrollers, and communication interfaces.

Build, test, and iterate prototypes using hands-on lab measurements and performance data.

Troubleshoot hardware and drive root-cause analysis of electrical issues.

Collaborate across firmware, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering to integrate hardware into complete products.

Support design verification, technical documentation, and transition into production.

Contribute technical analysis to system-level tradeoffs around power, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

2–5 years of hands-on experience designing and developing electronic hardware.

Experience taking PCB designs from schematic and component selection through board bring-up and debugging.

Strong fundamentals in analog and digital circuit design.

Experience working with embedded hardware such as sensors, ADCs, power management, microcontrollers, or communication interfaces.

Proficiency with PCB design tools and hands-on lab equipment.

Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical decisions and findings.

Nice to Have

Experience in one or more of the following:

Low-power or small-form-factor electronics

Medical devices or other regulated products

Implantable or wearable electronics

Wireless communications or wireless power

FPGA development or signal/power integrity

C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or similar engineering tools
