Description

Provide electronic technician support and services to support Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division’s Tomahawk Missile Functional Ground Test (FGT) capability. Work is located at Naval Surface Warfare Center – Indian Head, MD. Situational telework may be authorized. Most of the job will require on-site presence at NSWC-IHD. Some travel may be required (CONUS).

Specific duties include: Providing electronic/electrical technician expertise for operating and maintaining a FGT platform; and providing engineering support in preparing test plans, test readiness review presentations, reviewing and assessing test results, writing test reports, and conducting testing in accordance with approved SOPs and procedure.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Specific knowledge of the Tomahawk cruise missile is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with electronic equipment modification and/or repair, soldering, cable fabrication and modification.
  • Ability to read electronic and electrical specifications, schematics and drawings.
  • Ability to use various hand tools (pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers), power tools, soldering iron, etc.
  • Experience with use of electronic test equipment such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and similar data collection equipment.
  • Experience with telemetry data collection, recording and display systems including equipment setup/configuration and operation; use of telemetry systems to monitor electrical data in real-time during test execution, and conduct post-test evaluation against electrical system performance specifications.
  • Experience with personal computer configuration, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • General technical writing skills to support writing and reviewing test plans, test procedures, and test reports. Technical writing skills to develop and maintain equipment checkout procedures.
  • Ability to support conducting testing in accordance with approved standard operating procedures (SOPs) including operating of data collection systems.

Minimum Education: An Associate degree from an accredited college or university or 5 years of experience as an electronics technician is required.

The candidate must be able to obtain medical certification for working with explosives and must be willing to submit to random drug testing.

The candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
