The EMEA Data Center Design & Construction Delivery (DCCD) team is responsible for delivering one of the world’s fastest-growing infrastructure portfolios, supporting the expansion of AWS cloud services across the region.
- The EMEA Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading the regional scheduling strategy, governance, and continuous improvement framework across the EMEA construction portfolio. This role establishes the standards, mechanisms, and processes that drive schedule consistency, predictability, and reporting across all construction programs while enabling Construction Managers and General Contractors to successfully deliver projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Reporting into the Business & Project Controls function, the Scheduling Manager partners closely with Construction, Preconstruction, Cost Controls, Commissioning, Engineering, Design, Global Planning, Business Intelligence and external delivery partners to develop an integrated approach to project controls across the entire project lifecycle.
- This role is responsible for defining and maintaining the EMEA Schedule Specification, establishing scheduling governance mechanisms, driving contractor adoption of scheduling standards, and providing executive-level visibility into schedule health across the regional portfolio.
- Success in this role requires a combination of technical scheduling expertise, strategic thinking, data-driven decision making, stakeholder management and the ability to influence both internal teams and external contractors in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Key job responsibilities
- Regional Scheduling Strategy
- Develop and own the EMEA scheduling strategy supporting the delivery of Amazon’s regional data center construction portfolio.
- Establish scalable scheduling standards, governance mechanisms and best practices across EMEA.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve schedule predictability, reporting consistency and project delivery performance.
- Partner with Global scheduling teams to align regional standards while representing EMEA requirements and driving global best practices.
- Schedule Specification & Governance
- Own and continuously improve the EMEA Schedule Specification, ensuring consistent implementation across projects and contractors.
- Develop and maintain regional scheduling standards including:
- Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Milestone Definitions
- Rules of Credit
- Activity Coding Standards
- Calendars
- Progress Measurement
- Schedule Quality Requirements
- Baseline Development Standards
- Schedule Update Requirements
- Develop governance mechanisms that ensure contractor compliance with scheduling standards throughout project execution.
- Establish regional schedule quality assurance processes including schedule audits, logic reviews, critical path validation, float analysis and schedule maturity assessments.
- Contractor Performance & Schedule Assurance
- Partner with General Contractors, scheduling consultants and Construction Managers to improve schedule quality and consistency across the regional portfolio.
- Review contractor schedules to validate logic, sequencing, critical path, schedule risk, constraints and compliance with EMEA standards.
- Hold contractors accountable for schedule quality, reporting accuracy and timely submission of project schedules.
- Support schedule recovery planning, delay analysis and mitigation strategies for projects experiencing schedule risk.
- Develop contractor scorecards and performance metrics that measure scheduling maturity and compliance.
- Project Controls Integration
- Partner with Cost Controls, Commissioning, Construction and Business Intelligence teams to establish an integrated project controls framework across schedule, cost, risk and commissioning.
- Support the development of portfolio reporting and executive dashboards providing consistent visibility from project through regional portfolio level.
- Define schedule KPIs and reporting mechanisms supporting operational reviews and executive decision making.
- Drive consistent reporting standards across all EMEA projects.
- Construction Support
- Provide strategic scheduling guidance to Construction Managers throughout project planning and execution.
- Support planning activities from preconstruction through project completion including schedule development, baseline reviews, schedule updates and change management.
- Evaluate impacts of scope changes, procurement risks, commissioning activities and construction sequencing on project schedules.
- Support schedule contingency planning and schedule risk management across complex construction projects.
- Digital Transformation
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of scheduling systems and digital tools including Primavera P6, Procore Scheduling and portfolio reporting platforms.
- Improve schedule data quality to enable automated reporting and executive dashboards.
- Partner with technology and Business Intelligence teams to develop scalable reporting mechanisms and analytics.
- Leadership & Capability Development
- Build regional scheduling capability through training, coaching and development of Construction Managers, contractors and scheduling partners.
- Develop training material and scheduling guidance documentation supporting consistent adoption of EMEA standards.
- Support the development of regional scheduling resources and third-party scheduling partners as the organisation continues to scale.
- Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and operational excellence across the scheduling community.
- A day in the life
- As the EMEA Scheduling Manager, no two days are the same. One day may involve reviewing schedule health across the regional portfolio and presenting executive insights to senior leadership. Another may be spent working alongside Construction Managers and General Contractors to improve schedule quality, recover at-risk projects, or implement new governance mechanisms.
- You will partner with cross-functional teams across Construction, Preconstruction, Cost Controls, Commissioning, Engineering and Business Intelligence to improve how schedules are developed, governed and reported. You’ll leverage data and analytics to identify trends, drive accountability, and continuously improve project delivery across one of the world’s largest data center construction portfolios.
- Success requires balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution, building trusted relationships across the business, and influencing internal teams and external partners to adopt consistent scheduling practices that improve delivery performance.
Basic qualifications
- - Experience in construction of data center delivery (design, commissioning and construction), mission critical facilities, or equivalent industrial/manufacturing facility builds
- - Demonstrated experience developing scheduling standards, governance frameworks and project controls processes.
- - Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM), schedule risk analysis, schedule contingency management, delay analysis and recovery planning.
- - Experience reviewing contractor schedules and driving schedule quality improvements.
Preferred qualifications
- - Experience developing regional or enterprise scheduling governance frameworks.
- - Experience integrating schedule, cost and risk within a Project Controls environment.
- - Experience implementing Primavera P6 Enterprise, Procore Scheduling or similar enterprise scheduling platforms.
- - Experience with Power BI, SQL, data analytics or portfolio reporting tools.
- - Experience developing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), schedule specifications and reporting standards.
