Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic/Motor Vehicle Operator)

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is an open continuous announcement. Multiple vacancies exist and may be filled from this announcement at any of the locations listed. Duties

• •Serves as a U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Paramedic in the Army Emergency Medical Service (EMS) supporting an Army or joint base military installation.
• •Paramedics will perform both basic and advanced life support emergency medical treatment to provide the most extensive pre- hospital care.
• •Responds to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, or potential environmental risks.
• •Assesses condition of patient(s) and selects from a variety of protocols one or several that are deemed appropriate under the given circumstances and based on the paramedics’ evaluation.
• •Performs the following procedures Airway Obstructions and Respiratory Arrest, Wounds and Emergency Trauma Treatment, Pediatrics and Childbirth, Extrication and Packaging of Victims, Pharmacology in compliance with standing orders and protocols.
• •Responsible for implementing procedures for hazardous materials during the course of the duties which include biological, chemical, or radiological agents used by or maintained by the military or by rogue agents against the population.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) responding to accidents or emergencies involving injuries and/or illnesses; (2) operating a patient transport vehicle; and (3) providing basic life support to patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
