The Endoscopy RN follows the New Mexico State Practice Act while providing patient care. They anticipate and facilitate during Endoscopic procedures utilizing expertise and proficiency; to ensure competent implementation of patient care

Required Qualifications:

• •NM State Nursing Licensing
• •BLS Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• •CGRN
• •ACLS Certification – within six (6) months of hire/transfer

Duties and Responsibilities:

• •Works collaboratively with providers and other nursing departments to maintain continuity of patient throughput.
• •Utilizes assessment skills to provide patient safety during pre, intra and post procedure.
• •Places IV access and completes prerequisite medical interventions as ordered by the provider.
• •Assists with the setting up and cleaning of equipment adhering to all infection control practices.
• •Handles specimen according to laboratory process (i.e. pathology, histology, cytology, microbiology solutions).
• •Documents accurately and efficiently per policy.
• •Clearly communicate discharge instructions to patients and caregiver.
• •Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:

Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship

• •Responsible for on-call duties as assigned by GI Lab Manager.
• •Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:

• •Recognize that potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or hazardous materials, x-ray, noxious/irritating fumes, long hours, and unforeseen conditions that might generate stress may be encountered.
• •Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance.
• •Must be able to walk, stand, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently.
• •Must be able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to three hundred (300) pounds frequently.
• •Recognize that physical demands such as extensive walking, standing, lifting, positioning, pushing, and or transferring of patients may be required.
