WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

A hotel should be safe, secure, well-maintained, and welcoming for everyone who walks through its doors. As our Hotel Engineer – Safety & Security , you will play an important role in making that happen. In this dual-function position, you will perform routine maintenance and respond to engineering needs throughout the hotel while also conducting regular property walks to identify and report safety, security, and maintenance concerns. You will serve as an observant and professional presence throughout the property, documenting concerns, responding appropriately to incidents, and helping ensure our guests, employees, and hotel remain safe and well-maintained.

This is an unarmed position and does not carry law-enforcement authority.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• •Perform routine hotel maintenance, including minor painting, plumbing, electrical, and other general repair activities using appropriate hand and power tools.
• •Replace air-conditioning filters and perform other routine preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
• •Monitor hotel equipment and building systems and notify management when major repairs, replacement, or specialized service may be required.
• •Assist with the operation and monitoring of heating, cooling, hot-water, and other building systems as assigned and appropriately trained.
• •Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, employees, and management.
• •Record work requests and document the action taken to address each concern.
• •Complete assigned maintenance tasks, projects, preventive maintenance, and departmental programs accurately and within established timeframes.
• •Identify maintenance deficiencies while conducting property walks and either correct the issue within the scope of the position or report/escalate it to the appropriate leader.
• •Conduct regular interior and exterior property walks to observe and report potential safety and security concerns.
• •Monitor assigned areas including the lobby, hallways, stairwells, public restrooms, parking areas, exterior grounds, guest-room floors, back-of-house areas, and other designated spaces.
• •Remain alert for suspicious activity, unauthorized access, unsafe conditions, disturbances, property damage, lighting concerns, unsecured doors, trip hazards, and other conditions that may create a risk to guests, employees, or the hotel.
• •Maintain accurate and timely documentation of significant incidents, observations, and security-related activities in the appropriate hotel log or reporting system.
• •Promptly notify management of safety or security concerns requiring additional assistance or escalation.
• •Contact emergency services or law enforcement in accordance with hotel procedures when circumstances require immediate assistance.
• •Assist guests who request directions or assistance and proactively assist individuals who appear lost or in need of help.
• •Escort guests or employees to their vehicles upon request when appropriate and consistent with hotel procedures.
• •Observe exterior areas, including parking and food-and-beverage areas, for disturbances, unsafe activity, parking concerns, or other issues requiring management attention.
• •Support hotel leadership and food-and-beverage employees when addressing disruptive situations while maintaining a calm, professional presence and following established procedures.
• •Complete incident reports when required and promptly communicate significant events to management.
• •Immediately report emergency conditions, injuries, suspicious activity, or threats to the appropriate hotel leader.

SKILLS & ABILITIES YOU BRING

• •General knowledge of hotel engineering, building maintenance, and basic repair practices.
• •Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment required for assigned duties.
• •Ability to understand specifications, measurements, and basic maintenance instructions.
• •Strong observational skills with the ability to recognize potential maintenance, safety, and security concerns.
• •Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and professional during unexpected or emergency situations.
• •Ability to communicate concerns clearly and accurately to hotel leadership.
• •Ability to document maintenance requests, incidents, observations, and actions taken.
• •Professional and approachable demeanor when interacting with guests and employees.
• •Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and use de-escalation techniques when encountering disruptive behavior.
• •Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance and safety concerns based on urgency.
• •Ability to work independently while knowing when a situation requires management, emergency services, or law-enforcement involvement.
• •Ability to work throughout all interior and exterior areas of the hotel.

SCHEDULE & HOURS

This position is full-time , with schedules that may vary based on business need. Flexibility to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, may be required. Specific shift details will be discussed during the interview process.
