Engineering Leader

The Role

As Consumer Engineering Leader , you’ll be the engineering counterpart to our Consumer Product Leader. Together you’ll own a simple question: How can we extend our product suite to be integrated deeper with our customers’ financial lives?

Engineering leadership at Taptap Send is hands on. You’ll be building POCs while managing/coaching a team of super passionate, high caliber engineers. We are looking for someone who finds themselves on the cusp of product and engineering and is excited to shape the next generation of products at a company with millions of customers. The mandate is to move fast and autonomously, understand our customers, build new products they love, and become the financial home for the immigrant communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

Own the Outcomes: Partner with Product to set and hit targets on adoption, retention, and how well our products serve the range of a customer’s financial life. You’re accountable for how well these products work, not just for shipping them.

Run the Experiment Loop: Take ideas from hypothesis to live test in weeks, not quarters. Build POCs yourself. Instrument everything. Read the data honestly and recommend, kill, or scale.

Spot the Opportunities: Bring your own ideas. You should be looking at our customers, our data, and the market and arriving with a point of view on the next unmet need worth solving.

Ship the Winners: When a bet proves out, lead the work to harden it and get it into the core app at production quality with reliability, security, and compliance standards intact.

Stay Hands-On: Contribute code. You set the technical direction for consumer product engineering and you’re in it with the team.

Build and Lead a Small, High-Leverage Team: Hire, coach, and retain product-minded engineers who thrive on ambiguity and speed.

Work Across the Company: Partner with teams across the business to get experiments live and learnings shared, building on our existing systems and creating new ones that other teams can plug into.

What We’re Looking For

Product-Minded Engineers: Your background is building user-facing products and the services behind it. You’re comfortable owning a feature end-to-end, from backend through to what the user touches.

Track Record of Rapid Experimentation: You can point to things you built in weeks that tested a real hypothesis, and to things you killed. Candidates whose experience is entirely long-horizon builds won’t be a fit.

0 to 1 Experience: You’ve done your best work at Series B-E companies or standing up new products/businesses within a larger company. You know what it’s like to build with real constraints and real growth pressure.

Comfort with Compliance: You’ve shipped in regulated environments and treat compliance as a design constraint to build around from day one, not a hurdle at the end.

Commercially Grounded: You reach for the business case before the architecture diagram. You can judge whether an idea is worth the company’s time, and you hold a high engineering bar while doing it.

Leadership Range: You can lead and grow a team without stepping away from the technical work. This isn’t a role for someone who has moved fully into management.

Our Stack

TapTap Send is an AWS-first, polyglot engineering organisation. Across a small set of major product and platform systems, we use Kotlin/Spring Boot and Python/FastAPI for backend services, React Native/TypeScript for mobile, React/TypeScript for web, PostgreSQL for transactional data, and Redshift + dbt for analytics. You don’t need to have used all of this, but you should be able to get productive in it quickly.
