Position Overview and Objective
The Engineering Manager will contribute to our Sensor Platform Delivery team by leading the site reliability engineering (SRE), quality assurance (QA), lab infrastructure, and release rollout functions that take our network security sensor platform from a passing build to a healthy, verified state across thousands of sensors deployed in customer environments worldwide.
Responsibilities
AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER AT ARCTIC WOLF, YOU WILL:
- Lead the engineering teams across site reliability engineering (SRE), quality assurance (QA), lab infrastructure, and release rollout for our network security sensor platform.
- Own release criteria and rollout decisions for firmware, kernel, and service updates across our global sensor fleet, including staged rolling deployments and rollback calls.
- Drive fleet reliability targets, including availability, upgrade success rate, and data flow continuity, across multi region cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Oversee the physical lab environment, including build servers, power distribution units (PDUs), and virtualized test fleets, keeping lab configuration aligned with production.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines and automated test frameworks spanning unit, integration, simulation, and full physical system testing, and reduce flaky tests to improve signal quality.
- Partner with infrastructure and security teams on container orchestration, database management, and core networking protocols, including TCP/IP and port mirroring, to support sensor telemetry and detection workflows.
- Build and maintain the runbooks, dashboards, and on-call processes that your team, solution engineers, and solution architects depend on during incident response.
- Mentor and grow a team of engineers, strengthening people management practices and cross functional partnership with solution engineering managers and solution architects.
YOUR EXPERIENCE MIGHT LOOK LIKE:
- 10- 15 yrs of experience which should include 5+ years in software engineering, including 2 or more years managing engineering teams.
- Hands on experience with test infrastructure, lab environments, and CI/CD pipelines, including debugging across physical and virtualized systems.
- A track record in release engineering and platform reliability, with experience improving release confidence across distributed systems.
- Experience operating services on AWS, including container orchestration and managed database administration.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and port mirroring, and of security protocols relevant to network security appliances.
- Experience managing or partnering closely with QA and DevOps functions, and comfort working alongside solution engineers and solution architects.
- Strong written communication skills, with experience producing runbooks, postmortems, and release notes that on-call engineers depend on.
