Summary
About the Position: This is an Engineering Technician (Civil) GS-0802-6/7/8/9/10/11 position for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division, Tulsa District, Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Position may be filled at any grade level. Salary Ranges: GS-06: $45,409 to $59,031 GS-07: $50,460 to $65,599 GS-08: $55,882 to $72,644 GS-09: $61,722 to $80,243 GS-10: $67,970 to $88,356 GS-11: $74,678 to $97,087
Duties
- Works as an Engineering Technician in the Navigation Section, Technical Support Branch, Operations Division with responsibilities for technical engineering activities and staff services at District Projects and the Arkansas River Navigation System.
- Provides Civil Maintenance Support Section engineers with support, technical guidance and coordination of work activities for District Projects and the Arkansas River Navigation System.
- Prepares or oversees others in the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates of material, equipment and services for assigned work activities at District Projects and the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System.
- Plans and oversees hydrographic surveys and is fully accountable for surveys performed on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System.
- Is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, operation and final product of all hydrographic surveys for project condition surveys, dredging operations and other surveys as requested.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-06: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Assisting with repairs and maintenance projects for different civil works projects or facilities. GS-07: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Assisting with preparing plans, specifications and cost estimates for projects civil works projects. OR One full year of graduate level education in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, industrial technology, or related field. (NOTE: Transcripts are required at time of application). OR I have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some graduate education but less than one year as described in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (NOTE: Transcripts are required at time of application). GS-08: I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service performing the following duties: 1) Supporting inspections of civil works and navigation projects for an organization OR 2) Providing design and budget guidance to engineers to ensure mission completion. GS-09: I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal Service performing the following duties: 1) Maintaining equipment records in facilities and equipment maintenance systems (FEMS) or similar systems AND 2) Reviewing plans and designs to ensure they align with an organizations project requirements. OR Have a master's or equivalent degree or have completed two full years of graduate level education leading to such a degree in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology. (NOTE: Transcripts are required at time of application). OR I have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have more than one year but less than two years of graduate education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify). (NOTE: Transcripts are required at time of application). GS-10: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing 2 out of the 3 1) Reviewing the development and preparation of hydrographic surveys to ensure accuracy and completion of projects OR 2) Maintaining a survey vessel and preventative maintenance on equipment related to navigation OR 3) Providing technical resolutions to computer hardware and software problems. GS-11: I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal Service performing the following duties: 1) Providing civil maintenance support, technical guidance and coordination of work for projects and navigation systems AND 2) Coordinating computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), geographic information systems (GIS) and hydroelectric surveys design plan support for mission and budgetary needs of civil works projects for an organization. AND 3) Overseeing plans, scheduling, budgets and final products of all hydrographic surveys. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05/06/07/08/09/10).
Education
