Job Purpose:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the organization’s enterprise server, virtualization, storage, backup, recovery, and infrastructure platforms. This position ensures the availability, performance, security, and reliability of server and computing environments through proactive system administration, troubleshooting, monitoring, patch management, capacity planning, and lifecycle management activities. The Systems Administrator supports physical and virtual server environments, enterprise storage systems, backup and recovery platforms, and disaster recovery processes while collaborating with technology teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to maintain stable and efficient infrastructure services. The position serves as a technical resource for infrastructure operations, maintains technical documentation and system standards, and participates in infrastructure projects, change management activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Administer and support physical and virtual server environments, including operating system installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, and lifecycle management.

· Administer and support Windows Server operating systems and associated infrastructure services to ensure system availability, reliability, and performance.

· Administer virtualization platforms, including VMware hosts, clusters, virtual machines, templates, and supporting infrastructure.

· Administer enterprise storage systems, including storage provisioning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, replication, and lifecycle management.

· Administer backup and recovery platforms, including backup monitoring, retention management, replication, restore testing, and recovery activities.

· Develop, maintain, and execute disaster recovery and business continuity procedures for infrastructure systems.

· Monitor server, virtualization, storage, backup, and infrastructure environments to ensure availability, capacity, performance, and operational health.

· Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for server operating systems, virtualization platforms, storage systems, backup solutions, and infrastructure services.

· Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, including server hardening, patch management, vulnerability remediation, privileged access management, and security logging.

· Execute infrastructure changes through established change-management processes, including planning, testing, implementation, validation, and rollback procedures.

· Maintain infrastructure documentation, configuration records, system inventories, architecture diagrams, recovery procedures, and operational standards.

· Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, hardware replacements, firmware updates, vendor support activities, maintenance contracts, and lifecycle planning.

· Participate in infrastructure projects and provide technical recommendations regarding system availability, scalability, performance, reliability, and recoverability.

· Provide technical support and escalation assistance for infrastructure-related incidents and operational issues.

· Participate in scheduled maintenance activities, disaster recovery testing, incident response, and on-call support as required.

Job Specifications and Qualifications:

Knowledge & Skills:

· Strong knowledge of enterprise systems administration, including physical and virtual servers, server operating systems, virtualization technologies, storage systems, backup and recovery platforms, and infrastructure monitoring tools.

· Demonstrated experience administering Windows Server operating systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, patching, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.

· Demonstrated experience administering VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, virtual machines, clusters, and associated virtualization technologies.

· Working knowledge of enterprise storage platforms, storage networking, replication technologies, storage performance management, and capacity planning.

· Demonstrated experience administering backup and recovery platforms, including backup monitoring, retention management, replication, restore testing, and disaster recovery support.

· Knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity, infrastructure resiliency, and recovery testing methodologies.

· Experience with infrastructure monitoring, performance analysis, availability management, capacity planning, and infrastructure lifecycle management.

· Knowledge of server security, vulnerability remediation, operating system hardening, patch management, privileged access management, and infrastructure security best practices.

· Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and basic Linux administration in an enterprise environment preferred.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities, technical projects, infrastructure changes, and operational issues while maintaining attention to detail.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate with technology teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.

· Ability to maintain accurate documentation, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively under pressure.

Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science/Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), Microsoft Windows Server or Azure Infrastructure certifications, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent certifications preferred.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

This position requires bending, typing, lifting (up to 40 lbs.), standing, sitting and walking throughout the facility.
