The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting the establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Program by maintain and enhancing EHS procedures, systems, training, equipment and documentation.

This position reports to the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager and is part of the EHS team located in Leuven and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• •Monitor and maintain EHS performance, including tracking key performance indicators and performing site tours. Facilitate in the preparation and reporting of EHS metrics.
• •Lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis using recognized methodologies (e.g. 5-why, fact tree analysis, …). Evaluate and develop corrective and preventative action plans and communicate with stakeholders.
• •Communicate and build awareness of the EHS management system – including planning, coordination and facilitating onboarding and ongoing training for associates.
• •Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the EHS management system.
• •Support, maintain and enhance the Environmental Management System, including but not limited to waste management programs, chemical storage, internal audits, etc. (ISO14001 standard).

The essential requirements of the job include:

• •Working knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements.
• •Required Prevention Advisor level III, preferred level II.
• •Preferred EHS experience in a chemical handling/manufacturing environment.
• •Preferred knowledge of ISO Standards, ISO 14001 is a plus.
• •Fluent in Dutch and proficient in English.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• •ISO standards internal auditing programs.
• •First aid and/or chemical spill cleanup.
