Position Summary
Double L is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator with proven experience in drywall to support our growing construction businesses. The Estimator manages assigned opportunities throughout the bid lifecycle - from identifying and evaluating potential projects through preparing estimates, submitting bids, and following up with clients and internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will review plans and specifications, develop accurate and competitive estimates, maintain complete bid records, and collaborate with Operations and company leadership to evaluate project scope, risk, and alignment with business objectives.

Principal Responsibilities:
Bid and Opportunity Management
Collaborate with Operations to identify and track upcoming bidding opportunities.
Enter and maintain bid opportunities in the company's bid-management system.
Prepare, organize, and update bid documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintain current records of bid status, scope, pricing, decisions, and follow-up activities.
Bid Review and Strategy
Participate in weekly bid-review meetings with leadership.
Help evaluate opportunities and support informed bid/no-bid decisions.
Review outstanding bids and coordinate required follow-up.
Assist leadership in evaluating project scope, schedule, risk, resource needs, and alignment with company goals.
Recommend appropriate profit margins based on company guidelines, project characteristics, and delegated authority.
Estimating and Preconstruction
Review drawings, specifications, addenda, scope documents, and other bid information to assess project feasibility and requirements.
Prepare detailed project estimates in accordance with company standards.
Conduct or participate in internal bid reviews for projects exceeding established size or risk thresholds.
Protect confidential bid, pricing, customer, and company information.
Bid Submission and Client Coordination
Prepare and submit complete bids accurately and by the required deadline.
Confirm that bid forms, pricing, scope information, alternates, and supporting documents are complete before submission.
Update the bid-management system with final pricing, scope details, submission information, and decisions.
Participate in scope-review meetings with general contractors, clients, and internal Operations personnel.
Follow up on submitted bids to determine status, support award decisions, and maintain client relationships.
Experience & Skills
High school diploma or GED.
One to three years of drywall estimating, construction, preconstruction, project coordination, or related experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents, or the ability to develop this proficiency through training.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Ability to prioritize multiple bids and meet firm deadlines.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating effectively with a team.
