The Estimator generates estimates and new business opportunities within assigned markets

Essential Functions

• •Generates and develops quotes
• •Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare quotes/estimates
• •Computes various cost factors
• •Prepares budgets and schedules for work
• •Ensures all estimates meet or exceed company and customer’s expectations, as well as regulatory requirements
• •Develops beneficial business relationships
• •Develops good working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients and INDOT personnel
• •Develops a network and contacts within the community
• •Performs day-to-day estimating tasks
• •Sets up jobs in job costing
• •Generates purchase orders and subcontractor agreements
• •Reviews billings, prepares change orders and job cost reports
• •Communicates with internal/external customers
• •Answers inquiries via phone, email or in-person
• •Provides highest levels of customer service
• •Makes presentations to large and small groups
• •Translates technical information into easily understood language
• •Promotes and maintains safe work environment
• •Exhibits safe work behaviors
• •Wears all prescribed PPE

Education Qualifications

Required Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction management or related field

Experience Qualifications

Required 3+ years in Heavy Highway/Civil/Asphalt Paving/Bridge construction or related field preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• •Clerical office environment
• •Indoor lab conditions that include standard office equipment such as computers, photocopier, phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, cubicles
• •Sits at a desk regularly
• •Looks at a computer screen 8 hours a day
• •Performs data entry, alpha and 10-key numeric, on a keyboard
• •Uses copy/fax to scan documents
• •Drives a motor vehicle
• •May lift or move up to 10lbs
• •Regular travel to job sites, customer sites, and corporate offices around the state is required; mostly day trips, but some overnight travel may be required
