Love the moment a loose end gets tied off?

Some people like a tidy to-do list. You like a finished one. At Family Promise of Spokane, where we help families end the cycle of homelessness, our Chief Operating Officer’s commitments connect directly to the shelter and housing programs families rely on. We’re looking for a part-time partner who makes sure those commitments get done.

What You’ll Do

Build and own the system. Design a single system in your first 60 days that captures every commitment the COO makes, then keep it current.

Drive follow-through. Send reminders before things are due, hold short check-ins several times a week, and follow up on anything overdue until it’s closed.

Run the COO’s day. Manage the calendar, triage email, draft correspondence, and prepare meetings so nothing is missed.

Keep leaders connected. Log and route Directors’ requests, coordinate with the CEO’s Executive Assistant, and prepare concise briefs to support decisions.

Why This Role Is Different

Your follow-up is wanted: the COO has asked for more reminders, not fewer. You’ll build something from scratch, not inherit it. You’ll be stretched into operations, personnel, finance, and strategy, where keeping confidences, using sound judgment, and knowing when to escalate matter more than knowing everything. And your autonomy will grow as trust is built, with planned check-ins at 90 days and six months.

What You Bring

3+ years in executive support, administrative coordination, or project coordination, including supporting a senior leader. High school diploma or equivalent; experience matters more to us than a degree.

Discretion and sound judgment with sensitive personnel, financial, and operational information, especially in unfamiliar territory.

The confidence to respectfully follow up with a senior leader until something is done.

Experience building a tracking or organizational system where none existed.

Clear writing, strong prioritization, and comfort with Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace.

Nice to have: experience supporting a COO or operations leader, a nonprofit background, and familiarity with EOS® or Strety.

Don’t check every box? If this role excites you and you bring most of what’s listed, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer

Paid sick leave, vacation, and paid holidays per FPS policy; a free, confidential Employee Assistance Program for you and your household; optional supplemental benefits through Colonial Life; a structured 90-day introduction; and work that directly helps families find stable homes.

How to Apply

Apply by sending your resume accompanied by a cover letter. In a brief cover letter, tell us about a time you built a system from nothing or held someone more senior to a commitment, and how it turned out. This position requires a criminal and financial background check before hire and annually.
