the posting
The Ad Firm is a top digital marketing agency headquartered in Southern California that serves clients nationwide. We are seeking an AI Content Writer to join our growing content team. This is not a traditional content writing role. We are looking for someone who already writes content optimized for AI-powered search platforms and generative engines.
The right candidate should be working at a marketing agency right now, with at least two years of experience managing multiple projects at once. This is a remote position for The Ad Firm. Workdays are from 8 am to 5 pm PST, with the possibility of flexible hours after the initial probationary period.
We are a digital marketing agency that has consistently grown our clients' businesses online since 2009. We have been awarded numerous times for our output work and the atmosphere of our team. We specialize in helping companies grow and tracking the success we bring to each of our clients.
Role Purpose:
Write and optimize content that performs across both traditional search engines and AI-powered platforms such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Claude. You will work under our Content Manager and alongside our SEO managers and Client Success Managers to produce content that is strategically structured to be cited and surfaced by generative AI models, not just ranked by Google.
The right fit will understand the difference between writing for traditional search and writing for generative search, and will be able to do both. You should be comfortable switching between industries and client voices, and confident using AI tools as part of your workflow at an advanced level. Writing efficiently and in a timely manner is a must, as well as having perfect grammar and spelling in American English.
Required Qualifications:
2-4 years of creating SEO-driven content at a marketing agency or in-house team
Portfolio that includes content cited or surfaced by AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews), not just traditionally ranked content
Working knowledge of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) strategies
Advanced prompt engineering skills with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, beyond basic drafting and rewording
Understanding of how large language models process, extract, and cite content
Experience with entity-based SEO and topical authority structuring (pillar pages, content clusters, supporting content)
Familiarity with schema markup and structured data at the content level
Ability to fact-check and validate AI-generated content against real-world sources to maintain EEAT standards
Familiar with traditional SEO best practices (keyword strategy, header hierarchy, internal linking, on-page optimization)
Familiar with conversion best practices
Exceptional editorial and self-editing skills
Excellent time management and the ability to handle multiple client projects simultaneously
Works equally well independently or as part of a team
Welcomes feedback from team, supervisors, and clients
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field preferred
Responsibilities:
Write original content using answer-first formatting, semantic structuring, and clear entity signals designed for AI citation and traditional search ranking
Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity) at an advanced level for research, content structuring, drafting, and quality refinement
Interpret and apply content briefs, keyword assignments, and client guidelines across multiple industries and content types (blog posts, service pages, product pages, press releases, page titles and descriptions)
Audit existing content for AI readiness and recommend restructuring for improved GEO/AEO performance
Optimize on-page elements including header hierarchy, internal linking, and structured data alignment
Review and refine AI-generated drafts for factual accuracy, tone consistency, brand voice, and editorial quality
Conduct research to verify all content claims against the client's actual services, credentials, and website
Create original and dynamic content that supports the client's brand voice, overarching brand vision, and the audience it serves
Stay current on how AI search platforms discover, process, and cite content
