Experienced Journeyman Electrician Foreman

Description

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Substation Electrician Foreman to perform and oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within utility substations. This position requires a strong electrical background, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety while supporting projects throughout Virginia and surrounding areas. Candidates with substation experience are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

The Journeyman Substation Electrician Foreman is responsible for performing and overseeing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems within utility substations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

• •Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair substation electrical equipment.
• •Construct and modify conduit systems, cable installations, control wiring, relay wiring, and grounding systems.
• •Install transformers, breakers, switchgear, regulators, batteries, battery chargers, PTs, CTs, and associated equipment.
• •Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.
• •Assist with crew leadership, work planning, and jobsite coordination.
• •Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety policies and customer requirements.
• •Support testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
• •Perform manual labor and construction activities associated with substation projects as required.

Requirements

Physical Standards:

Required physical abilities to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger dexterity, grasp, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift objects under 10 pounds; occasionally lift objects from 10-25 pounds, infrequently lift objects from 25 – 30 pounds and infrequently lift object over 50 pounds.

Environmental Conditions :

Work is performed outside and includes being exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, inclement weather, noise, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, darkness and occasional poor lighting conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• •High school diploma or recognized equivalent. Formal education and/or training in electrical theory or electronics
• •Minimum of 7 years of electrical construction experience.
• •Previous substation experience strongly preferred.
• •Industrial or commercial electrical experience preferred.
• •Experience leading crews, directing work activities, and maintaining jobsite productivity.
• •Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and construction plans.
• •Class A CDL preferred but not required.
