Extended Care Teacher

  • Xiente | Philadelphia, PA
  • Pay: $16.35 per hour

Position Overview

Xiente is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Extended Care Teacher to join our Early Childhood Education team. The Extended Care Teacher provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children while supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to make a meaningful impact while growing professionally in the Early Childhood Education field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive supervision and care to children during extended care hours.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, nurturing, and welcoming classroom environment .
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, creativity, social interaction, and development.
  • Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through daily activities and interactions.
  • Follow established classroom routines, schedules, policies, and procedures.
  • Observe children's behavior and respond to individual needs in a patient, positive, and appropriate manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding children's daily activities and needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, supervisors, and other team members to provide consistent care and support.
  • Assist with classroom transitions, meals/snacks, activities, and other daily routines as needed.
  • Participate in required professional development and training opportunities.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred, or willingness to obtain an Infant/Toddler CDA.
  • Previous experience working with young children in an early childhood education, preschool, childcare, daycare, or similar setting .
  • Ability to provide patient, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow classroom procedures, safety requirements, and program expectations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.

Compensation

$16.35 per hour
