General Description

The purpose of this class is to perform specialized skills in the maintenance of county facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• •Installs, repairs, and maintains air conditioning and heating units.
• •Inspects interior and exterior building HVAC systems and equipment; makes repairs as needed.
• •Performs routine maintenance and energy efficiency upgrades.
• •Diagnosing and troubleshooting system malfunctions, and repairing or replacing parts.
• •Inspects and testing HVAC systems and components
• •Maintains accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and service to equipment.
• •Ensures compliance with local, state and Federal laws (OSHA)
• •Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• •Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• •HVAC license or certification required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs, and operates tools or equipment.

The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
