JOB TITLE: Facilities Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Operations/Production

REPORTS TO: Human Resources

Position Summary

The Facilities Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized facility that supports production, warehouse, office, and employee welfare areas. This role ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company sanitation procedures by performing routine cleaning, sanitation, waste management, and facility support duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Cleaning and Sanitation

  • Clean and sanitize production break rooms, restrooms, locker rooms, clean rooms, warehouse facilities, and administrative offices.
  • Maintain floors through daily sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, counters, tables, chairs, benches, lockers, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and other facility fixtures.
  • Ensure all assigned areas remain clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Perform scheduled cleaning tasks according to company sanitation standards and established procedures.

Waste Management

  • Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and debris from interior and exterior facility areas.
  • Replace trash liners and maintain cleanliness around waste collection points.
  • Ensure waste is properly transferred to designated disposal or compactor locations.

Supply Management

  • Monitor and restock restroom and breakroom supplies, including soap, paper towels, tissue, and other consumables.
  • Prepare, mix, and change cleaning solutions according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure mops, buckets, brushes, and other sanitation tools are clean and serviceable.

Equipment and Storage Maintenance

  • Properly store all cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies in designated storage areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of janitorial storage rooms and workspaces.
  • Follow established color-coding and labeling systems for cleaning tools to prevent cross-contamination.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Adhere to GMP, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including uniforms, hairnets, beard nets, and approved footwear as required.
  • Complete daily cleaning and sanitation documentation accurately and on time.
  • Report maintenance concerns, equipment failures, safety hazards, or sanitation issues to management promptly.

Administrative Area Support

  • Clean offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, and common areas.
  • Vacuum carpeted office spaces as scheduled.
  • Maintain a professional and sanitary environment for employees and visitors.

Working Conditions

The Facilities Specialist works throughout food production, warehouse, office, breakroom, locker room, and restroom environments. The position requires daily interaction with cleaning chemicals, sanitation equipment, and varying indoor facility conditions while maintaining compliance with company safety and food safety standards.

Requirements

Required

  • Previous janitorial, custodial, sanitation, housekeeping, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cleaning priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to work in production, warehouse, office, and outdoor environments.
