The Alexandria Area YMCA is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our Housekeeping Team. This hands-on, active role is essential to creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our members, families, athletes, staff, and guests. Job Summary

Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing facility spaces throughout the YMCA, including locker rooms, restrooms, group fitness studios, hallways, and gymnasiums.

Duties may include:

• •Cleaning and sanitizing surfaces
• •Wet and dust mopping floors
• •Scrubbing and polishing fixtures and equipment
• •Trash removal and disposal
• •Restocking cleaning and restroom supplies
• •Vacuuming carpets and entryways
• •Washing windows and glass surfaces
• •Assisting with room and meeting space setup
• •Performing other general housekeeping and facility cleaning duties as assigned

Position: Part-Time

Schedule : We are currently seeking applicants available to work 15–20 hours per week . Flexible daytime shifts are available between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Some weekend availability is required, with weekend shifts typically 3–4 hours in length .

Pay: $15.00 -$17.00 per hour, based on qualifications

Requirements

• •High energy and attention to detail.
• •Be able to positively interact with members, guests, and fellow staff.
• •Six months or more of related experience preferred.
• •Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• •Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• •Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• •Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• •Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Physical Demands

• •Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
• •Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
• •Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 6 feet.
• •Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
• •Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
• •Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
• •Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces:, overhead or ground level; twisting at the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
