Position Overview

The Federal Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in all phases of federal construction projects, from pre-construction to final closeout. The APM will help coordinate schedules, budgets, documentation, and compliance requirements under federal contracting standards.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional to gain experience in federal project delivery and grow into a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and managing project execution.

Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff to ensure compliance with specifications and project timelines.

Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and meeting minutes .

Support cost control , budgeting, and procurement processes.

Maintain detailed project documentation and reporting per FAR/DFARS and client requirements.

Participate in quality control , safety compliance , and site inspections .

Communicate regularly with federal clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Assist with project closeout procedures, including punch lists, as-builts, and warranties.

Some travel may be required

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field or working towards degree are encouraged to apply.

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in construction project coordination or management (federal project experience preferred).

Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and other federal construction regulations.

Proficiency in project management tools such as Procore, MS Project, and Bluebeam.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance, if required.

Must be able to pass a background check and 9 panel drug screen.

Preferred:

Experience working with USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, or VA contracts.

OSHA 30-Hour certification.

Working knowledge of design-build and quality control processes.

Professional certifications such as EIT, PMP, QAQC and/or CCM are a plus.
