Primary Purpose of the Final Inspection & Finishing Operator

The Final Inspection & Finishing Operator performs the final production activities required before SCHUNK products are released for shipment. Serving as the final quality checkpoint in SCHUNK’s modern, climate-controlled manufacturing environment, this role operates basic equipment, including balancing and laser-marking equipment; completes light assembly; and performs visual, dimensional, and functional inspections to verify that products meet quality, appearance, and specification requirements.

As the last person to handle the product before it is shipped to the customer, the operator plays an important role in protecting SCHUNK’s quality standards and customer experience. This position identifies defects and nonconformances, completes required manufacturing documentation, and ensures products are correctly labeled and securely packaged.

What You Will Do

• •Assemble components required for finished parts and assemblies.
• •Operate balancing equipment to balance tool holders and custom products to specification.
• •Operate laser-marking equipment to accurately mark standard and custom products.
• •Perform final visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using precision gauges and both metric and English measurement systems.
• •Identify and hold defective or nonconforming products to prevent shipment, and communicate quality concerns, functional issues, and process needs to supervisors and coworkers.
• •Apply rust preventive, label products, and securely package finished goods for shipment.
• •Read and follow blueprints, drawings, work instructions, reference documents, manuals, and sample parts.
• •Verify product conformance and accurately complete required manufacturing and inspection documentation.
• •Follow operating, quality, safety, and maintenance procedures, including scheduled routine equipment maintenance.
• •Maintain clean, organized, and production-ready tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with SCHUNK’s 5S standards.

Requirements

• •High school diploma or equivalent.
• •Strong attention to detail and a commitment to product quality.
• •Comfort performing light assembly and operating basic production equipment safely and accurately.
• •Proficiency in reading blueprints, sketches, drawings, work instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
• •Basic understanding of product dimensions and tolerances, with a willingness to learn SCHUNK’s appearance and functional standards.
• •Experience with basic measurement equipment.
• •Working knowledge of metric and English measurement systems.
• •Capable of performing visual, dimensional, and functional inspections and recognizing defects or nonconforming products.
• •Clear communication, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to resolving routine production or quality concerns.
• •Dependability in completing documentation, following procedures, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Preferred (Plus)

• •Previous experience in manufacturing, machining, production, assembly, inspection, or finishing operations.
• •Experience operating balancing or laser-marking equipment.
• •Previous experience in quality inspection, quality control, and the use precision gauging.
