Finance Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Finance department has openings for summer internships across various departments. These positions offer an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in Finance, Commercial Finance, and Costing, within the automotive industry. Summer Interns will work onsite 40 hours per week (full-time), with a targeted start date of May 3, 2027, through August 12, 2027.

Costing Intern will work under the guidance of Product Financial Manager to develop and implement projects requiring cost development for new programs. Responsibilities include:

• •Review engineering BOM and assist in organizing the BOM for cost development
• •Compare various programs cost data and identify key differences for engineering
• •Participate in engineering / manufacturing reviews during development of quotes
• •Compile current cost for programs being quoted and compare to quote
• •Other small projects related to costing as needed

Central Finance Intern will work under the guidance of Senior Controller to participate in cost roll and implement small projects. Responsibilities include:

• •Participate actively in the FY28 Standard cost roll process
• •Identify opportunities to automate Warranty reports.
• •Assist with account reconciliations
• •Review invoices and expenses
• •Assist with PPFY28 and forecasting
• •Prepare recurring reports
• •Financial analysis as Expenses reports, identify trends, variance and unusual items
• •Support ad-hoc analysis requested by business leaders
• •Other small projects related as needed

Commercial Finance Intern will support the Account Financial Management team across activities in program profitability, forecasting, business case development, engineering change analysis, commercial issue management, and customer financial support. Key responsibilities to include:

Program Financial Support

Support with monitoring financial performance of customer programs; preparation of monthly program financial reviews and profitability reporting; tracking sales, volume, pricing, and manufacturing cost performance against approved business cases.

Financial Analysis

• •Analyze program performance and identify financial risks and opportunities.
• •Assist with variance analysis between actual, forecast, and planned financial results.
• •Support preparation of financial models and profitability analyses.
• •Participate in ad hoc financial studies and special projects.

Commercial Support

• •Assist with tracking commercial open items and action plans.
• •Support financial evaluation of engineering changes and customer requests.
• •Help maintain documentation supporting pricing, recoveries, and commercial claims.
• •Assist with preparation of customer-facing financial information and supporting analyses.

Business Case Development for new and existing programs, and assist in evaluating impacts of volume, pricing, material cost, tooling, and capital investments. Participate in ROI, ROS, and investment analysis activities.

Reporting & Analytics

• •Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and management summaries.
• •Utilize Excel and financial systems to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
• •Assist with quarterly forecasts and annual profit planning activities.

Learn the interaction between commercial, operational, and financial drivers of program performance.

Qualifications:

• •Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and working towards a 4-year B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance
• •Available to work up to 40 hours per week during program duration
• •Minimum overall GPA of at least 3.0.
• •Previous internship or co-op experience an added plus
• •Strong verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail, organization skills and follow-up
• •Proficiency in Excel and MS Office
