The Opportunity:

Are you a highly organised finance professional who thrives on accuracy, stakeholder engagement, and delivering meaningful outcomes? We are seeking a Financial Support Officer to join a dynamic Defence environment, playing a critical role in supporting the delivery and sustainment of vital Defence capabilities.

As the Financial Support Officer, you will be a trusted partner to the System Program Office (SPO), providing financial administration, budget management, procurement support, and reporting services. You'll work across a broad range of activities, helping ensure projects are financially compliant, budgets are effectively managed, and decision-makers have access to accurate and timely financial insights.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine financial analysis, contract administration, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced and rewarding Defence environment.

Responsibilities:

Procurement & Contract Administration

  • Create, maintain, and amend Purchase Orders and Outline Agreements within Defence ERP systems.
  • Support procurement and contract administration activities across multiple projects and programs.
  • Manage commitment tracking and monitor aged commitments requiring corrective action.
  • Support corporate credit card administration and goods receipting activities.
  • Ensure procurement data remains accurate, compliant, and up to date.

Financial Management & Invoice Processing

  • Validate vendor invoices against contractual and financial management requirements.
  • Coordinate the timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Maintain financial reporting data and support financial governance requirements.
  • Analyse expenditure trends and identify budget variances, underspends, and overspends.
  • Prepare financial information to support informed decision-making.

Budget Planning & Forecasting

  • Maintain detailed budget plans and financial forecasts.
  • Support budget development, forecasting, and expenditure monitoring activities.
  • Facilitate budget review discussions with key stakeholders.
  • Prepare variance analysis and financial reports for management.
  • Contribute to Defence budget processes, reviews, and financial planning activities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Governance

  • Partner with Project and Product Managers to provide financial advice and support.
  • Lead discussions on financial performance, forecasts, and budget requirements.
  • Support audit, assurance, and governance activities.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful financial

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Qualifications in Finance (preferable)
  • Experience in financial administration, budgeting, procurement, or contract management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a complex environment.
  • Experience working with Defence ERP systems and financial management tools
  • Previous experience within Defence or Government environments will be highly regarded.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
