Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accounting Manager to lead our local accounting function in Hungary. As a key member of the local finance leadership, you will be responsible for accurate and compliant statutory accounting, effective cooperation with the shared service centre, and the leadership and development of the local accounting team. The role requires strong Hungarian accounting expertise, hands-on SAP R/3 experience, confident English communication and a practical, solution-oriented leadership style.

Responsibilities

• •Lead the local accounting function and ensure compliance with Hungarian accounting, tax and statutory requirements
• •Own monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, provisions, accruals and accounting quality controls
• •Prepare and oversee the annual statutory financial statements and required statutory filings
• •Act as the registered accounting professional responsible for statutory financial reporting
• •Coordinate corporate income tax, VAT and other tax compliance activities
• •Lead statutory and group audits and coordinate responses to auditor requests
• •Manage tax audits, authority reviews and statutory data requests
• •Maintain local accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
• •Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank, fixed assets and employee expense processes from a local governance perspective
• •Ensure invoicing, VAT coding, supporting documentation and NAV Online reporting meet Hungarian legal requirements
• •Provide professional oversight of accounting activities performed by the shared service centre
• •Monitor SSC service quality, reconciliations, corrections, issue resolution and escalations
• •Define clear ownership and controls between the local retained team and the SSC
• •Partner with Group Finance, auditors, tax advisers, IT and business stakeholders
• •Play a key role in SAP R/3 processes, testing, data quality and issue resolution
• •Support ERP and finance transformation initiatives and ensure alignment with Hungarian statutory requirements
• •Lead, coach and develop the local accounting team
• •Set clear priorities, allocate responsibilities and ensure business continuity during peak periods and organisational changes

Requirements

• •Active Hungarian registered chartered accountant qualification (regisztrált mérlegképes könyvelő) is mandatory
• •Hungarian : fluent (Mandatory)
• •English: fluent (Mandatory)
• •Strong knowledge of Hungarian accounting and tax regulations
• •Significant experience in a Chief Accountant, Head of Accounting or Financial Accounting Manager role
• •Hands-on SAP R/3 experience is mandatory
• •Experience working with an SSC or outsourced finance model is mandatory
• •Proven people management experience, including coaching, prioritisation and team development
• •Experience in statutory and group audits, tax audits and interaction with external advisers or authorities
• •Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
• •Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• •ERP implementation, migration or major system transition experience is an advantage
