About the role

Thndr’s Asset Management team is growing as we take on more managed mandates, and we’re looking for a Fixed Income Associate to support the team’s research and investment decisions.

In this role, you’ll spend most of your time analysing fixed income and money market instruments, following market movements, and understanding how changes in interest rates, inflation, and monetary policy affect investment opportunities.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Fixed Income, portfolio managers, and traders, providing the research and analysis they need to make informed decisions. This includes looking at Treasury Bills and Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Sukuk, and Eurobonds, as well as analysing issuers, reviewing financial statements, and keeping financial models up to date.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, is curious about financial markets, and can turn data and research into clear, useful insights.

What You’ll Do

Follow developments in fixed income and money markets, including Treasury Bills, Treasury Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Sukuk, and Eurobonds.

Research economic indicators, interest rates, inflation, and monetary policy, and assess how they affect the market.

Review companies’ financial statements to understand their financial position and assess their creditworthiness.

Build and update financial models to analyse yield curves, duration, convexity, and the relative value of different instruments.

Track daily yields, prices, auction results, and other market developments, sharing relevant updates with the team.

Prepare regular market updates covering yield movements, auctions, and key economic developments.

Support portfolio managers and traders with research ahead of auctions, new issuances, and investment decisions.

Monitor portfolio liquidity, upcoming maturities, and cash flow requirements across managed mandates.

Present your findings and investment views during team discussions and investment committee meetings.

Keep research files, financial models, and market databases accurate and up to date.

Build relationships with issuers, banks, brokers, rating agencies, and other market participants.

Follow internal policies and procedures, ensuring research activities comply with applicable FRA guidelines.

Work on ad hoc analysis and research requests from the Fixed Income team.

What You’ll Need

1–4 years of experience in fixed income, money markets, or a related financial analysis role.

A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.

A good understanding of fixed income instruments and money markets.

Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to review financial statements and assess credit risk.

Understanding of fixed income valuation and modelling, particularly yield curves, duration, and convexity.

An interest in macroeconomic developments and how they affect interest rates and bond markets.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when working with financial data.

Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain findings clearly.

The ability to work closely with different stakeholders and manage multiple tasks.

Nice to have

Experience in asset management or a bank’s Treasury department, particularly ALM or a dealing room.

Experience in financial research or investment analysis.

Familiarity with the Egyptian fixed income market.

Experience using Bloomberg or Refinitiv Eikon.

Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Python or Power BI is a plus.

Exposure to bond auctions, new issuances, or corporate credit analysis.

Experience preparing market reports or investment research.

Why this role matters

As Thndr’s managed mandates grow, the team needs solid research to understand market movements, assess risks, and make better investment decisions.

As a Fixed Income Associate, your work will help the team evaluate opportunities, understand the impact of economic changes, and make informed decisions across different fixed income instruments.

You’ll have the chance to build your expertise in fixed income markets, work closely with experienced investment professionals, and see how your analysis contributes to real investment decisions.

If you enjoy financial markets, digging into data, and understanding the reasons behind market movements, we’d love to hear from you.

At the same time, we’re shaping the future of investing while actively driving the economies we serve by promoting local investment products.

History has shown that investing is the single greatest way to build long-term wealth, but before Thndr , only a very small percentage of people had access to it due to:

High barriers to entry - In the form of excessive minimum account balances, complex, outdated onboarding, and low financial literacy.

Fragmented offering - Investment products were not gathered in a single, intuitive outlet.

We don't just talk about change, we deliver it. Here's a glimpse into our impact so far:
