Fleet Lube & Tire Technician

  • Location: Shakopee, MN
  • Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour (Based on Experience)

Job Purpose

Palmer Bus Service is seeking a dependable Fleet Lube & Tire Technician to join our Shakopee maintenance team. This entry-level position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, tire services, inspections, and supporting our experienced mechanics in maintaining a safe and reliable fleet.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in starting a career in fleet maintenance. You will gain hands-on experience working with commercial vehicles while learning from experienced technicians and building skills that can lead to future advancement opportunities within our maintenance department.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventative maintenance on school buses, vans, and other company vehicles.
  • Complete oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication services, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Rotate tires, check tire pressure, and assist with tire maintenance.
  • Inspect vehicles for leaks, worn components, and potential maintenance concerns.
  • Perform basic vehicle inspections and report findings to the mechanic or shop manager.
  • Assist mechanics with repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Maintain shop equipment and ensure tools are kept in good working condition.
  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe.
  • Communicate vehicle concerns and repair needs with the maintenance team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the maintenance department.

What We're Looking For

  • Interest in automotive, diesel, fleet, or mechanical work.
  • Previous automotive, tire, farm, equipment, or mechanical experience preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Dependable work habits and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

License Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake endorsements. Training provided if needed.
