We’re seeking a Food Service Assistant I to join our Nutrition Services team at Wilmington Hospital . In this essential role, you’ll help ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and high-quality meals while supporting a clean and efficient kitchen environment.

Schedule & Hours

• Business Hours: 5:30 AM – 7:30 PM
• Primary Shifts:

• •11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• •3:45 PM – 7:30 PM

Additional shifts may include:

• •6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• •6:45 AM – 3:15 PM

* Weekend & Holiday Rotation Required

**Must be able to work a combination of all shifts

What You’ll Do

• •Assemble patient meals accurately and efficiently according to menu and dietary guidelines
• •Support tray line operations, dish room, sanitation, and kitchen assignments
• •Ensure proper portioning, tray setup, and meal presentation
• •Follow therapeutic diet requirements and distinguish between regular and modified diets
• •Maintain food safety standards, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention
• •Uphold sanitation and safety standards in compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations
• •Demonstrate a “patients come first” mindset in every interaction

What You Bring

• •Food service experience preferred
• •Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices
• •Ability to follow procedures and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• •Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• •Team-oriented mindset with a positive, service-driven attitude

Physical Requirements

• •Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout your shift
• •Comfortable working in kitchen and patient care environments
• •Ability to follow infection prevention and safety protocols

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.93 per hour.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
