Somerville YMCA is seeking a part-time Food Worker to support daily meal service for our Preschool program. This position is responsible for receiving, organizing and distributing meals and maintaining a clean and safe food-service area.

Schedule: Approximately 2-4 hours per day (9am-1pm)

Key Responsibilities:

• •Receive and organize daily food and milk deliveries.
• •Prepare and distribute meals, snacks and milk to preschool classrooms.
• •Maintain required meal counts and basic food-service records.
• •Monitor food temperatures and follow food-safety and sanitation procedures.
• •Maintain food and supply inventory and communicate when items need to be reordered.
• •Follow allergy and dietary accommodation procedures.
• •Clean and sanitize food-service areas, carts and equipment.
• •Properly store or dispose of food following meal service.
• •Complete required food-service and CACFP training and documentation, as applicable.
• •Communicate food-delivery or meal-service concerns to the Preschool Program Director.
• •Perform other related food-service duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• •High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• •Food-service, school or childcare experience preferred.
• •Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred.
• •Dependable, organized and able to follow established procedures.
• •Ability to complete basic meal counts and records accurately.
• •Ability to lift and transport food and meal-service supplies.
• •Must complete required YMCA and food-service trainings.
