Full-Time Transfer Station Attendant

The Dalles Disposal , a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety minded Transfer Station Attendant to join our team in The Dalles, Oregon .

Schedule is Tuesday - Saturday

Shift is 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM , overtime opportunities often

Starting wage is $34.98/hour with an increase to $36.20/hour at 6-months pending a positive performance review.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• •Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station.
• •Safely and efficiently operate forklift, backhoe , and/or front-end loader .
• •May run errands using company vehicle as needed.
• •Measure trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers.
• •Track measurement information in computer system.
• •Ensure that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
• •Work on your feet outside throughout your shift.
• •Assisting with office duties, filing and paperwork as needed.
• •Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• •Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• •Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• •Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• •Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• •Ability to operate a company motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
• •Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• •Must be dependable with an ability to lead.
• •Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• •Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
• •This is a physical job working in a covered area as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
• •Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• •Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• •To be eligible for employment, candidate must pass a criminal background check , & drug panel screening as well as have an acceptable motor vehicle report .
