Future Talent Manager - Industry

The OME UK Business Line has experienced strong growth and continues to expand. To sustain this, we need to develop skilled Industry professionals.

The Future Talent Team drives learning and talent initiatives to support this. We seek a Future Talent Manager – Industry to lead apprenticeship programs and help apprentices and graduates build lasting careers.

You will coach and empower line and placement managers to provide meaningful work and consistent support, ensuring a high-quality experience.

Working closely with leaders, education partners, HR, and the Future Talent team, you’ll align programs with business needs, improve delivery, and support career progression.

Reporting to the Head of College and Future Talent, you’ll help shape our talent pipeline and foster a culture of learning and inclusion.

Role:

You will lead the coordination, oversight and continuous improvement of our Industry apprenticeship programmes, including:

· coaching and supporting line and placement managers to develop their apprentices effectively, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and complete the required training

· working with Industry leaders, heads of function, HR and skills specialists to identify future capability requirements and agree apprentice or graduate recruitment needs

  • · partnering with the Future Talent team to coordinate attraction, assessment, onboarding and induction activity
  • working with managers to create purposeful placements and development plans that build practical competence and meet programme objectives

· maintaining strong relationships with colleges and training providers, aligning learning with workplace experience and participating in progress reviews where appropriate

· monitoring apprentice progress, performance and engagement, helping managers identify skills gaps and coordinate timely support

· acting as a source of guidance for apprentices working with managers and specialist teams to resolve concerns and support wellbeing

· coordinating apprentice pay reviews with managers and the Future Talent team

· supporting timely programme completion and progression into suitable roles, with clear plans for each apprentice’s next career step

· maintaining relationships with former apprentices and graduates to support future recruitment, share experience and understand longer-term career progression.

· Providing pastoral care to graduate programmes across OME UK

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who combines a commitment to developing people with the organisation, judgement and relationship-building skills needed to deliver effective apprenticeship programmes.

You will be comfortable coaching managers, listening to apprentices and constructively challenging where the quality of development or support needs to improve.

Essential Experience:

  • Experienced in supporting apprenticeships and early career development programs.
  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring managers and colleagues.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficient in program coordination, managing priorities, and follow-up.
  • Able to analyze data and feedback to identify issues and improve outcomes.
  • Handles sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgment, escalating when necessary.

Desirable Experience:

· experience within manufacturing, engineering, Industry or another operational environment

· knowledge of apprenticeship frameworks, funding requirements or programme governance

· experience working with colleges, training providers or other education partners

· experience supporting learner wellbeing, safeguarding or inclusive learning

· familiarity with HR or learning systems, such as Workday

· relevant coaching, mentoring, learning and development or people management qualifications.

What Success Looks Like:

Success will mean apprentices who feel supported, develop the competence our Industry teams need and progress successfully into meaningful roles within OME UK. Managers will feel confident and equipped to support their development, while programmes remain well governed, inclusive and aligned with business priorities.

You will be able to demonstrate the impact through learner engagement, programme completion, retention and career progression, helping build a sustainable pipeline of skilled Industry talent.

Security Clearance Requirement:

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.

To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
