Position Summary

Life Time is expanding its presence in the Salt Lake City area. In addition to our existing South Jordan location, we are preparing for future destinations in Holladay, Herriman, and Lehi, creating new leadership opportunities across the market through the end of 2027.

As we grow, we are seeking experienced General Managers interested in learning more about future leadership opportunities with Life Time. This posting represents an evergreen talent community rather than a single immediate opening and gives us the opportunity to connect with outstanding leaders well ahead of future hiring needs to prepare for training and onboarding.

The General Manager in Training position is a high-profile leadership position, where you will partner with the club's Senior Leadership to help with the club’s overall direction, coordination, operation, and success. You will complete on the job training across all in-center departments to learn the business from the ground up. This leader is responsible for operational execution, leadership development, member engagement, and business support while preparing for future club leadership responsibilities. Leading from the front, the General Manager in Training acts as a brand ambassador for Life Time’s premium programs, services, and events, and impacts business results that fuel the club's success.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attends required General Manager Certification onboarding/trainings and presents on the business plan
  • Performs daily walk-through inspections to ensure that all areas of the club are clean, neat, organized, and like new
  • Studies Net Satisfaction Scores to ensure the best member experience
  • Monitors budgets and forecasts revenue and expenses for each department monthly/quarterly/annually
  • Monitors supplies, payroll, cost of goods, and expenses for each department monthly/quarterly/annually
  • Mentors Department Managers to ensure continuous growth through training, developing, assessing performance, and providing feedback
  • Co-facilitates Weekly Department Manager Meetings.
  • Participates in a quarterly club assessment in partnership with the General Manager and Area Director
  • Authorizes new hires, promotions, employee status changes, and terminations with the Department Managers
  • Guides and executes monthly Manager on Duty program

Position Requirements

  • HS Graduate or Equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in the fitness, hospitality or retail industry
  • 2 years of management experience
  • Understanding of computer software such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent interviewing techniques
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb and raise up to 50 pounds​
  • CPR and AED Certified

Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field
