Generator/Industrial Engine Technician

Description

The Generator/industrial Engine Technician is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on power generation equipment in a controlled shop environment. This includes interpreting OEM service manuals, electrical schematics, and company procedures. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, familiarity with AC/DC circuits, and proficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters and torque wrenches. Work focuses on accuracy, safety, and efficiency to ensure equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• •Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on generators, ATS, and related components
• •Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues using appropriate tools and techniques
• •Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• •Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records
• •Adhere to all safety standards and company policies
• •Strong mechanical aptitude; electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
• •Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• •Must own basic industrial tools (hand tools, torque wrenches, multimeters)
• •Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• •Professionalism and attention to detail
• •Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualification(s)

• •Minimum 2 years of experience in generator repair or related field
• •Technical training or military equivalent preferred

Education Requirements

• •High school diploma or GED required
• •Technical training or military equivalent preferred

• •Lift up to 50–80 lbs occasionally
• •Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods

Work Environment

Primarily shop-based work with occasional field support. Exposure to noise, dust, and industrial equipment. PPE required at all times. Occasional overtime may be necessary.
