This job is responsible for building and leading a team to deliver technology products and services that meet business outcomes. Key responsibilities include developing a technology strategy, ensuring technology solutions comply with applicable standards, promoting design, engineering, and organizational practices, and advocating and advancing modern, Agile solution delivery practices. Job expectations may include coaching, mentoring, providing feedback and hands on career development, identifying emerging talent, fostering leadership skills, and managing stakeholders.
In Global Payments, the Senior Technology Manager leads the strategy, modernization, and delivery of critical payment capabilities that support strategic enablement, regulatory, and external mandate initiatives across Global Payment Solutions. This role is responsible for building and leading high-performing engineering teams that deliver secure, resilient, and scalable technology solutions aligned to business and client outcomes. The Senior Technology Manager drives the evolution of the Payments Orchestration Platform through application modernization, cloud adoption, and architecture transformation initiatives while ensuring operational stability, regulatory compliance, and technology risk management.
The role partners closely with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, and business stakeholders to define technology roadmaps, establish delivery priorities, and execute against strategic objectives. The individual is accountable for end-to-end solution delivery, application health, engineering excellence, and the adoption of modern software development, DevOps, and Agile practices. This leader also provides technical direction across multiple initiatives, manages organizational capacity and talent development, and fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
As an experienced technology leader, this role combines strong engineering and architectural expertise with people leadership and delivery accountability to drive solutions that advance the Global Payments technology strategy and enable the next generation of payment-processing capabilities
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technology strategy, architecture roadmap, and modernization initiatives for the Payments Orchestration Platform, ensuring alignment with Global Payments business objectives
- Manage and develop a high-performing engineering organization through talent acquisition, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development planning
- Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient payment solutions utilizing Java, Mule, Spring, Oracle, CockroachDB, OpenShift, Redis, Coherence, Drools, Activiti and cloud-native technologies
- Drive cloud migration and platform modernization strategies
- Partner with Product Managers, Architects, Engineers, and business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives and business requirements into technology solutions and delivery roadmaps
- Oversee end-to-end solution delivery across multiple initiatives, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, software development lifecycle processes, Agile methodologies, and engineering best practices
- Ensure compliance with risk, security, audit, regulatory, and governance requirements while proactively identifying and mitigating technology, operational, and delivery risks
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning while promoting modern engineering, DevOps, and architecture practices across the organization
- Builds and manages teams by performing financial activities to inform workforce strategy and hiring practices, setting and tracking maturity and quality objectives, and training employees/teams to address feedback and achieve quality and performance objectives
- Facilitates performance and career development of employees/teams through performance reviews, coaching, and creating development plans that are needed to build competencies and skills
- Manages solution delivery and application performance in production (app health, resiliency, performance, security, enterprise data management standards, audit exams and reviews), ensuring all relevant risk, financial, and compliance policies are met
- Manages relationships with business and technology partners and leads and creates followership in Communities of Practice in the organization
- Contributes to the technology strategy for their technical domain
- Creates an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
- Ensures that execution is aligned with product strategy by working with product management and other stakeholders

Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience delivering enterprise technology solutions, with demonstrated success leading large-scale application development, modernization, and transformation initiatives
