Description

Grant Writer

Full-Time | Atlanta, GA

Turn Compelling Stories into Meaningful Support.

Jewish Family & Career Services (JF&CS) is seeking an organized, collaborative Grant Writer who enjoys connecting strong writing with meaningful impact. You’ll write and manage proposals and applications that secure funding for agency programs, services, infrastructure, and other identified activities.

Your focus is simple: connect agency needs with funding that aligns with our mission and goals. You’ll research opportunities with individuals; corporate, private, and public foundations; federal, state, and county government; and partnerships and collaborations, while leading grant-writing projects from development through submission.

The Role at a Glance

  • Full-time position in the Development department’s Grants division
  • Reports to Sandra Hanson, Director of Grants & Measurement
  • Develops proposals, renewal applications, and funder reports
  • Manages assigned grant portfolio components, deadlines, and stewardship activities
  • Partners across departments to develop clear, compelling grant materials
  • This is a collaborative role for someone who enjoys both purposeful writing and behind-the-scenes coordination. Some days you’ll research funding opportunities or develop a proposal. Other days you’ll gather information from colleagues, prepare reports, or keep grant systems and deadlines on track.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Grant Development & Funding Research

  • Develop, write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals and renewal applications for government, foundation, and corporate funding sources.
  • Research funding prospects and connect opportunities with agency priorities.
  • Prepare supporting documentation required for each submission.
  • Build and maintain a strong understanding of agency programs, services, and outcomes so your writing reflects the work and its impact.

Reporting, Compliance & Grant Administration

  • Write, edit, and submit clear grant reports and related documentation that meet funder requirements.
  • Monitor grant guidelines, reporting schedules, and contractual obligations.
  • Manage your assigned grant portfolio components, including proposals, renewals, reporting, and stewardship activities.
  • Keep the grants calendar and tracking systems accurate and up to date so all deliverables are submitted on time.
  • Collaboration & Team Support
  • Help staff understand grant requirements and deliverables so teams can stay aligned and meet their commitments.
  • Partner with colleagues across departments to collect, organize, and synthesize information for grant development and reporting.
  • Contribute ideas and support workflows that make grant administration more efficient.
  • Provide writing and administrative support to help the grant team meet its needs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

You Are

  • A strong writer, editor, and researcher who brings organization and care to your work.
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative teammate with experience working across departments in nonprofit settings.

You Have

  • Experience in program development, outcomes measurement, or performance reporting.
  • Familiarity with grant compliance and reporting requirements.

You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Communications, Social Work, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a human services or nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated grant-writing experience with government, foundation, corporate, and/or philanthropic funding sources.

Why JF&CS?

At JF&CS, grant writing is about connection, dignity, and impact —not just proposals. You’ll work alongside a team that cares deeply about the community and the people we serve, turning compelling stories and program outcomes into meaningful support for our mission.

  • What We Offer:
  • Up to 20 days of paid time off (PTO) annually, prorated in the first year
  • Paid holidays
  • Comprehensive Health, Vision, and Dental insurance
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Paid parental leave

Candidates selected for employment must successfully complete a pre-employment background screening and drug screening. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results for both. In addition, tuberculosis (TB) testing and fingerprinting may be required, as applicable.

Equal Opportunity Employer Statement JF&CS is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing a workplace free from harassment and discrimination. We embrace our employees’ unique qualities, which fuel interest, innovation, and business success. As an EEO employer, JF&CS will engage in interactive dialogue regarding any accommodation requested based on medical or religious considerations.
