Groundskeeper

Job Description

SUMMARY :

Performs skilled landscaping and manual work necessary to maintain university properties.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• •Removes refuse and trash from campus grounds
• •Mows, trims, removes leaves, aerates, over seeds, fertilizes and waters lawns and athletic fields using both push and riding power equipment and other power equipment
• •Plants, trims, mulches, weeds and fertilizes flowers, shrubs and trees as directed or as necessary to ensure proper standards are maintained
• •Repairs and maintains campus walk, roads, benches signs, light poles and fountains by cleaning, painting, patching, etc.
• •Removes snow and ice and applies sand and chemicals in all areas of campus as directed using hand shovels, brooms, power snow blowers, tractors and trucks equipped with blades and spreaders and other power equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

• •Strong verbal communication and listening skills
• •Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
• •Highly thorough and dependable
• •Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and the equipment required to perform ground maintenance duties
• •Basic knowledge of groundskeeping and elementary horticultural practices and procedures
• •Some knowledge of the pruning and trimming requirement of shrubs and trees
• •Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing,

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

• •H.S. Diploma or GED required
• •Less than 2 years prior work experience in landscape maintenance preferred

WORK HOURS :

• •Full-time; Nonexempt
• •Monday-Friday 6:30AM-3:00PM
• •All university facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis and are also subject to planned overtime work as required by the immediate supervisor.

SALARY STRUCTURE :

Pay Grade 1 Hourly ($15.00 to $17.79 per hour)
