Group Product Manager, Search
This role is eligible for our hybrid work model: two days in-office.
This job posting is for an existing, currently vacant position
Why this job's a big deal:
Every Priceline trip starts with a search. A traveler tells us where they want to go, and how well we understand them decides whether they find a great deal with us or keep shopping. As the Group Product Manager for Search, you will own that front door from end to end, across hotels, flights, rental cars, and packages.
Working within our Product Operating Model (POM), you will lead PMs and partner with engineering leaders across three platform teams in Canada and India:
- Search Intent: typeahead, the search form experience, location recommendations, and multi-signal inputs
- Search Results Platform: natural language search capabilities, ranking models, and search form components
- Search Geography: geography services and destination data
This is a high-visibility, group-level leadership role. You will set the roadmap strategy, define how we measure search quality, and decide which ranking and AI bets to place and when.
In this role you will get to:
- Lead and Grow a Team of PMs: Coach and develop your PMs, and represent Search in portfolio forums, PI Planning, and leadership reviews.
- Own the Search Roadmap: Set strategy and OKRs across your teams, with clear hypotheses, experiment-backed evidence, and commercially grounded prioritization.
- Make the First Step Effortless: Improve typeahead, query understanding, and destination resolution across hotels, airports, cities, neighbourhoods, points of interest, and rental car locations.
- Optimize Machine Learning Models : Define model objectives, offline evaluation metrics, and the online experiment that decides whether model-driven ranking replaces our rule-based system.
- Modernize the Search Form: Drive the rollout of our unified search form across web surfaces, including date selection, form pre-population, and personalized suggestions.
- Define What Good Search Looks Like: Own the search quality framework, from SLOs and SLIs for critical applications to the business KPIs that connect search behaviour to bookings.
- Be a Trusted Platform Partner: Govern API contracts with Accommodations, Flights, Mobility, and Packages so changes are backward-compatible, communicated early, and measured for downstream impact.
- Shape Our Natural Language Search Strategy: Assess semantic search, embedding-based retrieval, agentic experiences, and multi-entity ranking, then recommend our long-term search intelligence roadmap.
- Champion Experimentation: Run a high-cadence A/B testing program with the metrics, guardrails, and significance thresholds that make results trustworthy.
Who you are:
- Group-Level Product Leader: 7+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years managing other PMs.
- Search Expert: 3+ years directly owning a search, typeahead, or information retrieval product at scale (10M+ monthly sessions).
- Technically Credible: You can discuss Solr vs. vector search, BM25 vs. learning-to-rank, NDCG@k, and entity resolution tradeoffs. You don't need to code, but you can pressure-test engineering decisions.
- Ranking Practitioner: You have shipped a model-driven ranking system to production, including training data, offline evaluation, online experiment design, and interpreting results under noise.
- Experimentation Leader: You have built the metrics, guardrails, and significance thresholds behind a trustworthy, high-cadence A/B testing program.
- Customer Focused: You have strong opinions on what great typeahead feels like and can diagnose funnel abandonment at the micro-interaction level.
- Analytical Mindset: You are comfortable with Splunk, Google Analytics, Looker, or similar tools and can design a measurement framework from scratch.
- AI Champion: You use AI in your own workflows and look for ways it can help your team deliver faster for customers.
- Exceptional Communicator: You influence stakeholders at all levels and translate complex technical constraints into clear business tradeoffs.
- Values-Driven: An illustrated history of living the Priceline values: Customer, Innovation, Team, Accountability, and Trust.
- Ethical Leader: You believe that "The Right Results, the Right Way" is a way of life, with unquestionable integrity and ethics.
Experience in any of these areas is preferred:
- Travel, including destination taxonomy, GDS content, IATA airport codes, hotel property types, and multi-vertical search
- Geo-search or location intelligence platforms, such as OpenStreetMap or Google Places
- AI search integrations, including semantic search and embedding-based retrieval, and their tradeoffs against lexical search
- A Product Operating Model or platform and vertical team structure
There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, certain roles may be eligible for an annual bonus and/or equity grant.
The salary range for this position is $140,000-165,000
