COMPANY OVERVIEW
50,000 athletes. 30+ locations. Millions of views.
BRL Studio® is the in-house creative agency for Brodie Rec. League, supporting a rapidly growing sports brand operating across 30+ North American cities and serving more than 50,000 athletes.
Brodie League is more than a basketball league, it's a community. As one of North America's fastest-growing sports brands, Brodie League is redefining adult recreational basketball by delivering an elevated, professional-quality experience rooted in culture, competition, and community. Our mission is to make every league night the best night of the week for our athletes.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Every week, Brodie has videographers, photographers and Athlete Highlight Specialists shooting in gyms across 30+ venues. We spend real money on that capture, and right now nobody runs it. There is no weekly shot list, no standard for what good looks like on a game night, no system for where the best clips go, and no one deciding what all of it points at. The best moment of the season can happen on a Tuesday in Seattle and we find out two weeks later.
The Head of Content fixes that. This is the execution and operations leader for everything Brodie captures and publishes from its venues: the weekly shot list in every market, the standard every shooter is held to, the pipeline from gym floor to feed, and the posting cadence on the national, athlete and location accounts. You take the creative vision our Executive Creative Director sets and turn it into a system that runs in cities autonomously. Then you work with our Sr. Director of Growth to ensure it translates to retained athletes, season over season.
The reason this matters; retention. Being seen is part of what people pay for. Your job is to make it a 10, for every athlete, every week, in every location, and to build the system so it still works at twice the size.
You are not holding the camera and you are not doing this alone. Brodie has a Creative Director for film and content, a Senior Photographer, a Senior Producer, a bench of shooters in every market and a designer to brief. You will manage a small content team directly and be the person who decides what all of that capacity points at, holds the standard, and makes sure it ships on time, every week, everywhere.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
In-venue capture system (primary focus)
Decide what gets shot before deciding what gets posted.
Publish a weekly shot list for every market, every week of the season, and hold shooters to it
Set and document the capture standard for videographers, photographers and Athlete Highlight Specialists: what to shoot, how to shoot it (iPhone-first, settings, framing, the story of the night), where it goes and by when
Build the pipeline from gym floor to published post: ingest, selects, edit, approve, publish. Turn hundreds of weekly raw clips into a working library, not a folder nobody opens
Build the onboarding and training system that gets a new shooter in a new city to Brodie standard without anyone from HQ getting on a plane
Review output by market weekly. Coach shooters who are close, give more responsibility to the ones who are great, and recommend replacing the ones who are not, working through the League Manager who runs them day to day
Hold League Managers and Operations accountable for the content coming out of their venues, and make capture a staffed, expected part of every game night
Athlete content, storytelling and retention
Every athlete should see themselves in Brodie's content.
Run the "Brodie Moment" system: every new athlete and every new team gets a photo or clip in their first week, and every athlete gets featured across a season
Make sure athletes can find, download and share their own clips and highlights, and work with Product on the portal that delivers them
Build the athlete, captain, team and rivalry storylines that carry from week 1 to week 12 and from season to season
Program the recurring in-venue formats that give every location the same beats on the same week: plays of the week, mic'd up, kicks of the week, fit checks, first-night reactions, division pages
Produce the mid-season and season-end highlight mixes from the best clips in every market, and give Slasher Season, Coldest Winter, Bracket Season and Brodie Summer each their own send-off
Publishing and cadence
Every post, every account, every market.
Run the editorial calendar and posting cadence across the national Brodie® and Brodie Athletes® channels and all 20+ city and location accounts, and hold it every week
Apply Brodie's content framework — Tease, Document, Showcase — so every post earns its place
Coach, write and approve captions in Brodie's voice, and brief graphics and design support for in-feed moments such as registration countdowns and weekly features
Set publishing standards: what a good post looks like, what never goes out, and who has the call
Submit the weekly content calendar every Monday and report performance by account and market: reach, engagement, reshares, saves, follower growth, and athlete content ratings
Team and systems
A small team and the systems that let it run 20+ markets.
Manage, coach and grow the content team, including the Content & Social Coordinator and Junior Content Operations Manager, and shape the team as the network grows
Partner with the Executive Creative Director, who sets what good looks like, and with the Creative Director, Film & Content and the Senior Photographer on craft and standards. You build the system that delivers their vision, and you tell them when a vision cannot be operationalized
Partner with the Senior Producer on production planning and with Growth on the content needs of new-market launches and seasonal campaigns
Manage the in-venue content budget across markets and plan how it scales as locations double
Use AI aggressively across ideation, scripting, captions, editing, selects and reporting to multiply what a small team can produce
Report to the exec team on what is working with a point of view, not just a dashboard
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years in content, social or production operations, including 2+ years managing people or crews. You are senior enough to run this on your own accountability and to grow into full ownership of Brodie's content function
You have personally run a multi-account, multi-location or multi-crew content operation and can speak to the cadence you held, the standards you set and the results it drove
Experience directing photographers, videographers or content crews remotely and across time zones, including setting standards for people you do not see every day
Deep fluency in short-form video culture: you know why one cut works and another does not, and you can explain it to a novice with an iPhone
You write well, fast, and in Brodie's voice, and you can brief a designer clearly
Comfort building process and structure from nothing in a fast-scaling environment, and organized to an unusual degree. This is a publishing operation and it is won on follow-through
AI-Native Mindset: You actively use AI to accelerate ideation, scripting, copywriting, editing, research and reporting, including working with tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and emerging AI-powered creative workflows. You constantly look for ways to automate repetitive work and increase speed without compromising quality
5 days in office at our Toronto HQ - Brodie has thrived due to a culture of collaboration and teamwork in office
DISTRIBUTION & PLATFORM FLUENCY
Has personally posted at volume across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. enough reps over enough years to have real first-hand f
